Adele took home her first Academy Award for Best Original Song for her contribution to the James Bond film 'Skyfall', which is first 007 theme song to even be nominated since 1981, but before her win, the British songstress took to the stage at the ceremony.

Shirley Bassey was also on hand to tribute the legendary Bond franchise with a performance of "Goldfinger", Barbra Streisand performed "The Way We Were" in the honor of fallen stars, and previous winners Catherine Zeta-Jones and Jennifer Hudson relived their respective 'Chicago' and 'Dreamgirls' roles. Although the film's director Ben Affleck was snubbed of an individual nomination, 'Argo' walked away with the top award of the night for Best Picture at the 85th Annual Academy Awards in Los Angeles, California on Sunday, February 24th.

Daniel Day-Lewis made history with his win for Best Actor by becoming the first actor to win three awards at the show for a leading role, and Jennifer Lawrence beat Jessica Chastain out for Best Actress. In the supporting categories, Christoph Waltz and Anne Hathaway were award for their work in 'Django Unchained' and 'Les Miserables', respectively. Beyonce has mastered the art of saying everything without revealing much of anything at all and her practice was put to good use in her HBO documentary, 'Life Is But A Dream', which premiered to record ratings for the network on February 16th.

Striving to come across as vulnerable and provide her fans with a candid look at her life, the special for the most part only confirmed about the superstar what most people already knew and even the biggest revelation of her miscarriage had already been previously teased by the superstar's husband Jay-Z in his 2012 song "Glory".
