Ashanti Dives Deeper For Sixth Album

8/31/2016 0

R&B singer Ashanti who is in the midst of her 'Natural Born Hitters' tour with Ja Rule, opened up to Billboard about her upcoming sixth studio album, which she hopes will be released later this year, and some of the other projects that she has in the works. Read beneath:

If Ashanti has her way, her sixth studio album will be out before the end of the year. But contrary to reports, it will not be called Chapter VI.

"It's really confusing. I have no idea where that came from," the singer/actress tells Billboard. "The next album is absolutely not called Chapter VI. But the music on there is incredible. I'm really excited. I can't wait for people to hear the new music."

Ashanti is still working on the set with 15 or 16 songs recorded so far. "I'm probably in love with about six or seven of them, like IN LOVE in love," she says. "I'm working with different people, different sounds, different things on this album, just kind of going places I haven't gone before. Being an adult now, times are different. People want more of you, you know. But I'm very happy."

And she's comfortable with the idea of maybe being more personal in this batch of songs. "I can really say in time that you grow and you learn and you just become more comfortable," she notes. "There are certain things that five years ago there's no way anyone could've gotten me to say certain things, but this time around it's like, 'Hey, we're in 2016 going into 2017, and this is how I feel. This is how it is. This is where we are in life, with everything.' I'm ready to do that."

A self-described "workaholic," Ashanti has been recording primarily in Los Angeles and working with Ty Dolla $ign, DJ Mustard, J-Roc, Hit-Boy, L.T. Hutton and more. "There's so many different people. I was just thinking about my favorite records and who did them. The last two times I went out to L.A. I was only supposed to be there for a week and ended up staying for a month each time. I catch a really great vibe out there for some reason. Whenever I'm out there I go super hard."

Ashanti is equally busy on her acting front, too. She co-stars in the drama Stuck that's currently in post-production and has "three or four television projects that are in the works," two of which she's executive producing. It's been 15 years since her debut album, but Ashanti is exited about her future agenda.

"I would put myself in the lane of being extremely focused and about to embark on even more greatness," she says. "I'm so excited about the new projects coming up -- the new music coming up, the new television stuff coming, the new films coming. I'm really grateful, and I'm just really excited for the next part, the next chapter."

Britney Spears Covers 'Marie Claire' UK

8/31/2016 0

It's Britney Bitch!!! After releasing her 'Glory' album last week and making an enjoyable return to the VMAs, superstar Britney Spears plays cover girl for the October issue of Marie Claire UK, where she dishes on dating and dealing with anxiety. Peep excerpts and more photos beneath:

On Bad Dates: "I had a really bad date. I’ve been single for ages and had a date with a guy I liked. I was getting anxious, worrying he wouldn’t like me. We went to the movies, but I could tell right away it wasn’t working. It was sort of awkward. After the movie I came home and that was it. It just didn’t work. He just wasn’t that into me. I liked him. He knew that. But he definitely didn’t feel the same. It happens to everybody. Being famous doesn’t make you any different."

On Anxiety: "If a hair was out of place, I’d be so anxious. I would get very anxious about so many things. Becoming a mother and being with my boys [Jayden, 9 & Sean, 10] has made me so much more accepting of myself. I'm their mom, whatever. That has been a really big thing for me over these last few years."

Carrie Underwood Finally Scores Elusive 'Entertainer' Nod At 2016 CMA Awards

8/31/2016 0

Despite being the genre's most consistent female performed over a last decade with 24 chart-topping singles, sold-out performances and several high-profile gigs that have progressed the genre forward, one thing has consistently eludded Carrie Underwood over of her successful career - a CMA Award nomination for Entertainer of the Year.

Well, that all changed this morning when the nominations for the 2016 Country Music Association Awards were announced and the 7x-Grammy winner finally broke through with a Entertainer of the Year nomination, in addition to three others for Album of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year and Musical Event of the Year for "The Fighter" with Keith Urban.

The nomination comes on the heels of Underwood taking three singles from her 'Storyteller' album to the top of the charts and the start of the second leg of her critically-acclaimed 'Storyteller: Stories In The Round' tour, which is currently country's top-grossing tour of the year. Though unexpected, given the previous deserved nominations that have escaped her, Underwood's breakthrough in the category is a welcomed change and she should actually win.

Kerry Washington Glows On 'InStyle'

8/28/2016 0

'Scandal' actress Kerry Washington is featured on the September issue of InStyle magazine, where she dishes with Editor-in-Chief Ariel Foxman about her social media hiatus, expecting her second child and her fashion plan to share clothes with other pregnant women.

Read some excerpts from her shoot and peep a couple more stunning head-shots beneath:

On Her Social Media Hiatus: "I was starting to feel overwhelmed, like there was too much noise. I felt like I had to get back to who Kerry really is … I felt like I needed to create a little more stillness around me. There’s something about pregnancy–that willingness to take up more space in the world — that is liberating."

On Expecting Her Second Child: "I think pregnancy prepares you for what’s next–that ‘fourth’ trimester of actually having the infant. There is so much about it that’s like the warm-up to the big game: the surrender, the lack of control. It’s a time to quiet other voices and really tune in to what’s right for me."

On Her Pregnancy Fashion Plan: "There’s nothing high-end for professional women who are pregnant. So for the show, we wind up just buying the same clothes. We will cut out the front of Armani trousers and put in a pregnancy panel. That’s what we do for everything. I also got this great idea from Jessica Alba: She told me she had this box of maternity clothes that she would ship from girlfriend to girlfriend … I’m now getting clothes back that I wore the first time. Everybody adds cute stuff to the box. You’re less afraid to spend money because you feel a lot of people are going to use it."

Kendall Jenner Lands September 'Vogue'

8/28/2016 0

It's yet another win for the Kardashian-Jenner clan!!! Landing the most important magazine cover of the year, Kendall Jenner fronts the September issue of Vogue magazine.

Shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, the issue sees the supermodel open up about gaining the respect of the modeling world, learning from her sisters' mistakes and the first time she met Caitlyn Jenner. Read excerpts for her interview and see another stunning shot beneath:

On the Kardashian Name: "People say a lot of what they think, and it's not always positive. And we never say anything. We just take it. And then when people meet us, they're pleasantly surprised. Because we aren't what people think. One of the best lessons I ever learned from my sisters is not to take everything so seriously. Just leave it alone — it will pass in a week. That's how I grew up. My sisters are so f*cking strong, and they taught me and my little sister to just toughen up and not let it affect us. You know what's real."

On Being Taken Seriously: "Marc invited my whole family to that first show, and I was like, 'I love you guys, but can you please just not come?' I was trying so hard to be taken seriously, like, 'Guys: This is not a joke or a stunt; this is what I want to do with my life.' I had to prove that I could do it. And now I feel like I'm a part of something. I feel I have accomplished something that is mine."

On Learning From Her Sisters' Mistakes: "Obviously, my success came after my sisters' — I got to see all of their mistakes and watch out for them."

On Meeting Caitlyn: "Obviously it's strange having your dad, who was so male, completely reverse. It is definitely a gnarly experience. But my whole life we would, like, catch her, and we would be like, 'What is going on here?' I think we know, but do we? At one point Kylie and I thought he was cheating on my mom, because he had makeup and nail polish. One time we found those squishy boob things. We found wigs. And then one time I actually ran into her. In this house. She had no idea. She would wake up really early just so she could dress up and move around the house and get that little kick for the morning, and then go back to being Bruce — take us to school, totally normal. So one morning I woke up at 4:00 a.m. so thirsty, came downstairs into the kitchen, and grabbed a bottle of water. And as I was coming back out, my dad was coming down the stairs in, like, a wig and makeup and shoes — the full nine. And she didn't see me. I literally froze. Please don't turn left. Because she could either turn left or turn right. Thank God she turned right and — to this day! — has no idea that happened."

'A Star Is Born': Lady GaGa Cast Opposite Bradley Cooper In His Directorial Debut

8/16/2016 0

After a successful chemistry test for Warner Bros, the studio has green lit a remake of 'A Star Is Born' with Bradley Cooper directing and starring opposite Grammy-winning recording star Lady GaGa, who will also write and perform new music for the film.

The studio tried, but was unsuccessful in courting Beyonce for the role of a singer whose star rises as quickly as her troubled lover's star is on the decline, and quickly moved on to GaGa at the suggestion of Cooper. Now, deals have been closed by Warner Bros president of Creative Development and WW Production Greg Silverman with production set to start in early 2017.

"For those of us lucky enough to watch him work as an actor and producer, it has been clear that Bradley would make this transition to director," Silverman said. "We are honored that he is doing it, here, at his home—Warner Bros.—and with Lady Gaga as a collaborator and co-star. The world is in for a treat as these great artists craft an all new vision of A Star is Born." Exciting!!!

In the new issue, the West dish on their favorite body parts, her nude selfies, their beef with Taylor Swift and hidden talents, which includes smelling a cavity. Read excerpts beneath:

KKW: Awww, now I have to say the same. But of my own, I like my upper stomach. I just seem to always have abs. When I'm not really pregnant, I have a great two-pack. [Laughs.] And of Kanye's? I have to say his heart. And I've always loved his legs.

On Kim's Legendary Nude Selfies
KW: I love her nude selfies. Like, I love the ones from the side, the back ones, and the front. I just love seeing her naked; I love nudity. And I love beautiful shapes. I feel like it's almost a Renaissance thing, a painting, a modern version of a painting. I think it's important for Kim to have her figure. To not show it would be like Adele not singing.

On Their Favorite Taylor Swift Song
KW: For me? I don't have one.
KKW: I was such a fan of hers.

On Their Hidden Talents
KW: I can analyze people's intentions. Immediately. That's just a warning. To everyone.
KKW: I can smell when someone has a cavity. It's a very specific smell—not a bad-breath smell—but something that is really strong.
