Taraji P. Henson Rings Up $100 Million At Box Office With 'Hidden Figures'

This weekend brought forth a big win for Taraji P. Henson!!! The actress, who leads the cast of box-office hit 'Hidden Figures', crossed the $100 million mark at the box-office by collecting $14 million in its fifth week of release to brings its cumulative total to $104 million.

The $25 million-budgeted film, which also stars Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monae, defied expectations and spent two consecutive weeks at the summit behind a vigorous marketing campaign by the studio and its stars, an A+ CinemaScore, and a 93% Rotten Tomatoes rating.

The Wrap: Fox and Chernin Entertainment’s “Hidden Figures” will take third place this weekend with an estimated $14 million, bringing its cumulative total up $104 million. The film starring Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monae has been a critical and commercial success — the Oscar nominee holds a “Fresh” score of 93 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

The film also scored a Best Picture nomination at the upcoming Academy Awards and earlier tonight, won the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.

Matthew McConaughey In Talks To Star In 'Serenity' With Anne Hathaway

A hot title that is scheduled to be shopped around at the European Film Market in Berlin next month has Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway, who previously starred together in 2014's 'Interstellar', reteaming for a sexy noir thriller entitled 'Serenity'.

Written and directed by Steven Knight, the film, which will start filming in the summer, is a mysterious tale of a fishing boat captain whose past is about to crash up against his life on a small island in the Caribbean, ensnaring him in a new reality that might not be all it seems.

McConaughey, who won an Oscar for 'Dallas Buyers Club', currently has 'Gold' and the animated hit 'Sing' in theaters and will next be seen in the Stephen King adaptation 'The Dark Tower', while Hathaway, who won an Oscar for 'Les Misérables', has the sci-fi actioner 'Colossal' on the way in April and is currently busy filming 'Ocean’s Eight'.

2017 Epitome Of Film Awards: Complete List Of Nominations

The nominations for the 2017 Epitome of Film Awards, which honors outstanding achievements in film, are finally in and 'La La Land' leads the field with 11 nominations, followed by 'Moonlight' with 8 nominations and 'Manchester By the Sea' with 6.

The three films are among the nine contenders for Outstanding Feature Film, a stacked category that also includes box-office surprise hit 'Hidden Figures', 'Fences' and 'Lion', and all of these films score additional acting nominations for their stars.
