Ruben Studdard Says 'I Do'

6/30/2008 0
The Velvet Teddy Bear got hitched.

American Idol's season 2 winner Ruben Studdard married Surata Zuri McCants at Canterbury United Methodist Church in his hometown of Birmingham, Ala., Saturday with 20 groomsmen at his side.

Studdard, 29, and McCants, 30, obtained a marriage license at the County Probate Office in Columbiana, Ala., last Monday. "They looked really happy," an eyewitness said.

On Idol, Studdard was dubbed the "Velvet Teddy Bear" and was known for dressing down in jerseys emblazoned with 205, Birmingham's area code.

But came time for his wedding, the vocalist got decked out. He and his groomsmen wore black Joseph Abboud tuxedos from local outfitter Mr. Burch Formal Wear, says a source.

The groomsmen's shirts and vests were black, while Studdard had a white vest and a white bow tie.

Studdard met McCants in October 2006, when he was signing CDs at a Wal-Mart in Atlanta. Struck by her beauty, he followed her to the store's toy department, and requested her phone number. Later this year he's due to release another CD.

About Solange as an artist, I've picked up that people either hate what she does or loves it, unlike other artist there is no middle ground. I personally love it, although this song isn't as good as some of the other tracks, its still solid and has me anticipating her album even more.

The first single, 'I Decided' debuted at #44 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart this past week, garnishing her highest showing yet.

Get ready for New York Goes to Hollywood, which follows the leading lady as she attempts to put her name on Tinsel Town’s A-list by becoming a serious actress. What about Weisgerber? Janet Jackson Triumphs Madonna In Tickets Sales

6/26/2008 0
Madonna's ticket sales may have gotten off to a slow start, but Janet Jackson's are doing fine, claims Live Nation, their concert-tour company.

Jackson is hitting the road to promote her latest CD, "Discipline", which hasn't fared well on the charts since its February release.

But hopes are still high for Jackson's tour at Live Nation, where the chairman left last week after criticism that he was paying stars too much for the return. "She's a tour record-breaker, having grossed more than $100 million in her career".

So why is Jackson apparently selling well while only half of the seats at Madonna's L.A. show have been sold? Her tickets are cheaper than Madonna's, ranging from $46 to $126 at the Izod Center in New Jersey, for example, where Jackson performs Oct. 17. And unlike Madonna, who almost always favors her new material in shows, Jackson is willing to do the fan-favorite hits.

"We're very happy with the ticket sales," said a Live Nation spokesman. "She hasn't complained about us. Thank God."

Good for Janet, hopefully this will allow her record to push more units, even though the whole project was a complete mess IMO.

"Furthermore the platinum singer is gearing up to start a new clothing line. She is currently talking to the department store Steve & Barry's.

Ciara wants to combine her own style with affordable prices.Ciara will follow fashion icons like Sarah Jessica Parker (“Bitten” collection) and New York Knicks' star Stephon Marbury's clothing line “Starbury”.

"I have a couple of cool things that I'm working on," says Ciara. "The coolest thing about Steve & Barry's is they cater to everyday people. I won't say that my line will be like theirs, I want to stay true to who I am, but most importantly it has to be affordable." Ciara's New LP, "Fantasy Ride" is scheduled to hit stores this fall.

5. Queen Latifah

See Jennifer, this is how things are suppose to be done, Queen Latifah is one of a select few who knows her body size and how to compliment it. She looks stunning.

4. Nia Long

In her forties, Nia Long is still a force to be reckoned with.

3. Cassie

Although Cassie's dress looked more like a top than an actual dress, there's no denying she has the legs to carry it. She literally looks drop dead gorgeous.

2. Ashanti

Ashanti looks stunning and elegant.

1. Alicia Keys

I didn't care for what Alicia wore on the red carpet, but this tan number totally redeemed the singer. She looks stunning.

2008 BET Awards Fashion Breakdown (5 Worst Dressed)

6/25/2008 0
5. Keyshia Cole

Aside from having the worst performance of the night, Keyshia's fashion, as usual, was also on the downside.

4. Solange

Its often easy to forget that Solange is actually Beyonce's little sister, because unlike B, she never has her fashionable moments and she that hair makes her look like a wet puppy.

3. Jennifer Hudson

Jennifer seemed to be on a ride to fashion heaven, during her run of the awards shows while collecting prizes for her role in 'Dreamgirls', but then the Oscars hit and since then she's been on a down slide, big women IMO should not where these kind of dresses under any condition. Its nothing wrong with being big, but know your body and Jennifer if you need help, look at Queen Latifah who always rises to the occasion.

2. Lil' Mama

Fire you stylist now! No questions or explanations, just let them go. You look like Aunt Jemima.

1. Keri Hilson

I'm just going to get right to the point, leave the Ike and Tina Turner wigs and costumes in the 70s where they belong.
