2008 BET Awards Breakdown: Best Male R&B Artist

Nominees:
Chris Brown
J. Holiday
Ne-Yo
Raheem DeVaughn
Trey Songz

Who Should Win?
Chris Brown, even though his album wasn't the best out of the candidates, I really have to give him credit for making this album work for him, because IMO the album wasn't impressive in the least.

Who Will Win?
Chris Brown, hands down, the other nominees don't even have a chance.

Who Should Have Been Nominated?
Mario, whose stellar album 'Go!' was highly underrated.

Who Shouldn't Have Been Nominated?
Raheem DeVaughn, has done absolutely nothing in the past year to garnish him a nomination, this is just a traditional BET move of giving someone they happen to like a nomination, instead of giving it to an artist who actually deserved the credit. His single 'Customer' only reached no.76 on Billboard's Hot 100 and his album 'Love Behind the Melody' was released way back in January and still hasn't managed to reach gold status, now that doesn't sound like the stats of someone who would be nominated or is it just me.

  1. Regarding your comment about Raheem not deserving a nomination... This is the BET Awards not the the Billboard Awards or Soundscan awards. So he shouldn't have to have 8 number one singles and a multi-platinum selling CD in order to get recognition....especially from his own people. He deserves his nomination just like the rest of the nominees if not more. It's really sad that you and a host of other people seem to think that you need to have a radio hit and a multi-platinum selling album just to get some recongnition.
