With only one week left before the finals, Kris Allen, Danny Gokey and Adam Lambert can all finally see their dreams within reach, and utilized this as an opportunity to showcase just why they made it this far.
The guys sung two songs, one chosen by the judges and the other chosen by them.
Danny Gokey - "Dance Little Sister" (Chosen by Paula Abdul)
Danny immediately admitted he didn't know the song, but as always he was up for the challenge. With every performance, Danny has constantly given great vocals, but he just doesn't possess anything else to match that asset. The performance was okay, not great, and my biggest problem with Danny continues to be that he is just a little too old-school to thrive in today's music market. Taylor Hicks anyone? That said, aside from the dancing, the judges loved it.

Kris Allen - "Apologize" (Chosen by Kara DioGuardi & Randy Jackson)
Kris Allen was burden with the unfortunate task of singing One Republic's massive hit that is still fresh in the mind of music listeners everywhere, so would he sink or swim? I guess that depends on how you interpret the performance, because although he didn't take risks or completely revamp the song like he has done in the past, he did deliver an extremely solid version of the now classic. The song was a perfect choice for him and this is definitely the type of music that he will record one day. I loved it and, for me, he remains the only contestant of three, that I can actually see being successful long term.

Adam Lambert - "One" (Chosen by Simon Cowell)
Brilliant! First off, the U2 song is unbelievably great in its own right, but when paired with Adam's big theatrical voice its almost too much to bear. I've been far from an Adam supporter, but he rightfully deserves a spot in the finals.
Danny Gokey - "You Are So Beautiful"
Taking an undeniable classic ballad and pairing it with Danny's voice, always results in a winner. To put it simply, the vocals were great and it totally made up for that first performance that was just okay. Simon called the performance, "a vocal masterclass", but didn't like the change in arrangement.
Kris Allen - "Heartless"
When I heard Kris was singing Kanye West's "Heartless", I thought he had blew his chances for the finals, but boy was I wrong. It was risky, bold, and ultimately a complete win for Mr. Allen. Stunning vocals, originality, and honesty I could go on and on, but I'll end by saying Kris is the only one of the three to pick a recent song, which says a lot and makes me even more of a fan.
Adam Lambert - "Crying"
To be brief, the ending was amazing, but other than that the performance as a whole left a lot to be desired. That said, Adam is pretty much a lock for the finals.
PREDICTIONS:
I'm supporting Kris all the way and based on these performances Danny should bid farewell, but sadly it might be the end of the line for Kris.
