Grammy-winning rapper T.I. has released two new singles from his upcoming album 'King Uncaged', which will hit stores on August 17th. The first, "Yeah Ya Know (Takers)", hails from his forthcoming movie 'Takers', and the Keri Hilson-assisted "Got Your Back", will serve as his official radio single.

Produced by DJ Toomp, the edgy cut features the rapper aggressively attacking the music with a fiery of passion in his belly as he supplies what is definitely the better cut of the two singles (Listen Below).

T.I.

Toasting the ladies that stand by their man, the cut has a radio-friendly quality that should guarantee it has a successful run on the charts. By no means, is it great, but overall, a nice offering from Tip (Listen Below).

MOVIE REVIEW: 'SEX AND THE CITY 2'

5/28/2010 0
Sex and the City,Sarah Jessica Parker,Kim Cattrall,Kristen Davis,Cynthia Nixon

SYNOPSIS & DEVELOPMENT

Throughout the history of television, hundreds of female ensemble shows have come and gone, some of them were great and some of them should have never made it on air, but few (if any) of them have connected with viewers in the vain of 'Sex and the City', which ended its run on HBO in 2004.

Women loved that these women were fearless and dealt with real-life situations in ways that a bulk of them could only dream, and men were given a glimpse into the heads of four totally different women and how each of these women reacted to different things regarding the opposite sex.

Unfortunately, for those die hard fans, that magical allure has failed to transition from the television screen onto the big screen, as the once slick writing and intelligent character development have all hit the door to make room for the sparkly and at times, hideous fashion.

Led by writer Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) and her gal pals Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall), Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) and Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon), the film picks up approximately two years after the original, which saw Carrie finally wed the love of her life Big (Chris Noth).

Fast forward two years and the ending is still not very happy for Bradshaw, as she feels the two have become a little too settled in the traditional bounds of marriage. She desires some sense of spontaneity, but he would prefer to order in takeout and sit in the bed and watch old black and white movies.

Samantha is engaged in a fight against menopause, Miranda quits her job after having her voice silenced and Charlotte deals with pressures of motherhood.

A luxurious escape is provided for the ladies when Samantha gets an all expenses paid publicity trip to an Abu Dhabi resort and brings her pals along for the ride.

It is there that Bradshaw runs into the counterpart of her second most significant relationship on the show, Aidan (John Corbett), and what was marketed as the year's biggest secret turned out to be nothing more than a dull kiss, that fails to ignite any sparks into the already bland script.

That along with their blatant disrespect for the culture of the foreign land, can almost make the film unbearable and the two and half hour run doesn't help.

By the sagas end, the ladies are exactly where they were before, Carrie in the arms of Big, Miranda successful at work, Charlotte enjoying her family life and Samantha on her back screaming at the mercy of her latest conquest, Rikard (Max Ryan).

PERFORMANCES

The ladies have not lost an ounce of the chemistry they shared during the show's run and furthermore, each and every one of them brings something significant to their characters. They are over the top and annoying (at different times), but no matter how it plays out, they always provide a sense of believability.

DIRECTION & VISUAL

Michael Patrick King, who wrote and directed the flick, once again proves to be mediocre (at both jobs) as the transitions lack fluidity or a sense of true skill. That said, he is very conscious of the aging women and does his best to paint them in a positive light, which works for the most part.

FINAL VERDICT

In parts, 'Sex and the City 2' is exactly what you want it to be glamorous, fun and flashy, but when all the spectacular and grand sparkle finally wears off, the film is clearly missing the primary ingredient of substance.

TREY SONGZ - 'YO SIDE OF THE BED' [VIDEO]

5/27/2010 0
R&B stud Trey Songz has released the video for "Yo Side of the Bed", which features Keri Hilson as his wife and hails from his album 'Ready'.

Filmed last November, the clip is touching as Trey portrays a husband that stays at home with his daughter, while his wife serves her country. Unfortunately, the tale would badly for them as she would never return home safely. Aside from being a great video, it stands as a personal best for Songz.

On a completely different note, the "Say Aah" crooner also appears in Ludacris' video for "Sex Room", from his 'Battle of the Sexes' album.

Music icon Janet Jackson made a splash on the finale of 'American Idol', to perform "Nothing", the theme taken from her latest movie 'Why Did I Get Married Too?', and her classic female anthem "Nasty".

First and foremost, Jackson looked absolutely stunning (loving the new short hair) and delivered what appeared to be completely live vocals.

As for the performance, words can not express just how great it was and if there was ever any concern that Jackson was losing her ability to captivate an audience, well this performance resoundingly lays those concerns to rest.

AMERICAN IDOL RECAP: CRYSTAL VS. LEE

5/26/2010 0
Lee DeWyze,Crystal Bowersox

After months of intense competition, Crystal Bowersox or Lee DeWyze will be crowned the ninth American Idol tonight, and the show's standout judge Simon Cowell will say his final goodbyes to the hit television show.

ROUND 1: FAVORITE FROM THE SEASON

Lee DeWyze - "The Boxer": Originally performed during 'Inspirational' week, DeWyze delivered another solid take on the song, but he failed to blow us or the judges away like he did when he originally performed the track.

Simon Cowell didn't feel there was enough passion or excitement, and dubbed the performance as "a kiss on the cheek when I wanted a kiss on the lips".

Crystal Bowersox - "Me and Bobby McGee": Reprising her take on the Janis Joplin classic, Bowersox started off extremely shaky, but around the halfway mark, she really kicked it into overdrive by delivering some great moments.

As a whole, the performance was far from great, but as the old saying goes 'where you end up is what counts' and Bowersox ended on a good note.

All of the judges loved her performance with Kara telling her "you have fire in your belly tonight" and Simon saying that it reminded him of why they originally fell in love with her and her voice. Round one goes to Crystal.

ROUND 2: EXECUTIVE PRODUCER'S CHOICE

Lee DeWyze - "Everybody Hurts": While I normally object to the notion of anyone other than the contestants having a choice in the selection of the songs, the producers picked a brilliant song for Lee with the REM classic. It showcased that raspy and slightly soulful tone in his voice, and all in all, he did a good job.

Ellen thought he held back when he was on the right path and Simon could feel his nerves, while Kara loved how "emotionally accessible" he was.

Crystal Bowersox - "Black Velvet": The producers picked another stunning choice with the Alannah Myles hit "Black Velvet", that easily match the composition of Crystal's voice. Still, like Lee in the previous song, she struggled by dishing out flat notes and attempting to scream the rest of the song.

Randy Jackson chanted "Mamasox is in it to win it", Ellen called it "fantastic" and Simon thought she "absolutely nailed it". The judges would undeniably declare Crystal the winner of round two, but we're thinking Lee.

ROUND 3: UPCOMING FIRST SINGLES

Lee DeWyze - "Beautiful Day": A cover of the U2 smash, DeWyze delivered some great moments and some moment that were on the other end of the spectrum. Ellen loved the he took the moment in and Kara thought he got "swallowed up", while Simon thought he "made an effort".

Crystal Bowersox - "Up to the Mountain": Obviously, the better song choice and more importantly, it actually made the performance before hand seem like nothing more than a karaoke performance.

Randy Jackson rightfully dubbed it 'incredible', Kara loved that she finally let the world inside and Simon labeled it the performance of the night.

CELEBRITY BUG'S CHOICE TO WIN

In the end, it comes to down to how America chooses to vote and whether they strictly look at last night's performances or the competition of as a whole.

My problem with Crystal is that she fails to possess a single connective thread to the current music industry and being different, which she is, is not always a great thing (see: Season 5 winner Taylor Hicks and his non-existent career).

One might argue, Lady GaGa, but her connective thread is the actual music, which is really just an extension of what Britney Spears and Madonna had already done in the past. Bowersox is lacking in this capacity.

On the other hand, Lee has a great voice, a thread that connects him to the current landscape of industry and most importantly, you can already see him fronting a group of guys in the lane of past rocker Chris Daughtry.

Therefore, we endorse Lee DeWyze as our choice to win the ninth season.

NEW MUSIC: NICOLE SCHERZINGER - 'NOBODY CAN CHANGE ME' [LEAD SINGLE]

5/25/2010 0
Hoping to capitalize on 'Dancing with the Stars', which she is highly favored to win, Nicole Scherzinger gives her solo career another shot with "Nobody Can Change Me", the new single from her upcoming debut.

Nicole Scherzinger

After listening to the single, one can only come to one conclusion, Scherzinger has to return to the drawing board because this cut simply isn't cutting it.

A lead single makes the opening argument for an album and should pack a punch that makes the audience look forward to what that album entails. Sadly, this is forgettable and in no way, shape or form a first single (Listen Below).
