Last night, the top 3 contestants competing on 'American Idol', hit the stage, where they performed three songs for a chance at the finals. Recap below:
Round 1: Haley Reinhart - "What Is & What Should Never Be"
Round 2: Scotty McCreery - "Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not"
Round 3: Lauren Alaina - "I Hope You Dance"
Haley Reinhart - "Rhiannon"
Scotty: He is the most likable of the final three, but his voice is also the weakest. With that said, he is clever in his song choices and picks songs that play to his strengths as a singer, which proves he truly knows who he is as an artist.
Lauren: Lauren's main problem is that she doesn't really believe she can win and it often shows. She had a good night, but seeing footage of her initial audition, you cannot help but wonder where that girl has been the past 10+ weeks.
Haley: She has the best voice in the competition by a mile, but song choices are crucial for her more so than any other contestant. Last night, she picked brilliantly, but unfortunately, the judges Steven, Randy and Jennifer did not.
The Alanis Morissette song is great, no doubt about that, and she excelled during the chorus, but the overly perverted lyrics of the song, do not appeal to the audience that watches the show, and therefore, Haley might be in trouble.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Overall, the final three put everything on the line and delivered a great night of performances, but in our opinion, the night belonged to Haley and Scotty.
