Last night, the remaining 5 contestants vying for the title of 'American Idol', hit the stage, where they were coached by Sheryl Crow to sing tunes from now and then. Watch our choice performances and see our thoughts below:
Round 1 (Now): Scotty McCreery - "Gone"
Round 2 (Then): Haley - "House of the Rising Sun"
Scotty McCreery - "You Were Always On My Mind"
Jacob Lusk - "No Air"
James Durbin - "Closer to the Edge"
Lauren Alaina - "Unchained Melody"
Great night of performances. Vocally, Haley Reinhart was just on a completely different level, while James Durbin connected emotionally.
As for who makes up the bottom three, our choices are James, Lauren and Jacob with the ladder likely to bid abideu, simply because unlike Haley and Scotty, we didn't feel that they brought their A-game with both performances.
Jacob failed tremendously at trying to transform "No Air" from a duet, Lauren's take on "Unchained Melody" overshadowed her voice, and James, despite his emotive connections, tends to sing more out-of-tune than in it.
