Last night, the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards took place at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, California, and the star-studded ceremony saw many of today's top performers gracing the stage and adding to the show's legendary moments.

Peep Celebrity Bug's top 5 memorable moments from last night's show below:

1. Beyonce's Belly Rub

Although she used a backing track for her entire performance of "Love on Top", it was what Beyonce did after the performance that stole the show.

In full on diva mode, she dropped her mic, unbutton her sequin jacket and begin rubbing her growing belly - revealing her pregnancy to the world.

Cameras immediately cut to Jay-Z, her husband of 3 years, who was smiling from ear to ear and getting big tokens of congratulations from Kanye West.

This is certainly going to go down in history as a classic VMA moment and only Beyonce could find a way to overshadow the entire event.

2. CB Dazzles on the Dance Floor

If you can overlook his mistakes and all of his ridiculous twitter rants, it is clear that few performers have the ability to command the stage like Chris Brown.

Like Beyonce, he relied on a backing track, but unlike her, he had a reason to as he effortlessly danced his way through his recent hits "Yeah 3x" and "Beautiful People".

He also pulled out and transitioned his way through some classic Wu-Tang and Nirvana, and earned himself a standing ovation from the crowd.

To put it simply, the boy can dance.

3. Bruno Tributes Amy Winehouse

Bruno Mars paid respect to fallen star Amy Winehouse by delivering a nearly flawless performance of "Valerie".

There is something unique about his old-school style and now signature pompadour that transports to a time when music was about the actual art.

From his stunning tone to his grand showmanship, which rivals that of Sammy Davis, Jr., everything about the performance simply worked.

A fitting tribute for the talented vocalist.

4. Adele Sings Her Heart Out

There are singers that can sing and there are singers that can sang, Adele takes residence in the latter category.

If there was any doubt of just how good she is, she reaffirmed it last night with her mesmerizing performance of "Someone Like You", at the event.

No gimmicks. No surprises.

Just a talented songstress in front of a microphone pouring her heart out like only a select few of music peers are even remotely capable of doing.

5. Britney Spears Gets Honored

Despite being only a fraction of the performer she once was, no one can deny the impact that Britney Spears has made on pop culture throughout her thirteen year music career.

She has delivered iconic videos and some of the Video Music Awards' brightest moments, so it is only fitting that she received the show's Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

As Lady GaGa accurately put it during her introduction, "She taught us all how to be fearless, and the industry wouldn't be the same without her."

Additionally, she created another memorable moment when she hit the stage, the two shared a quick smooch and did what is now being referred to by their hardcore audience as the Britney Spears and Lady GaGa stare down.
