Yesterday (Jan. 20), after a lengthy struggle with leukemia, legendary diva Etta James died at the age of 73, her manager Lupe De Leo revealed to CNN News.

The Grammy-winner endured numerous set-backs throughout her long career including a two-decade long drug problem, which she finally overcame during a 1988 stay in the Betty Ford Clinic, but her voice still remained a vigorous force.

Peep one of James' final performances and read the touching tribute message from Beyonce, who portrayed her in the 2008 film 'Cadillac Records', below:

Beyonce: "This is a huge loss. Etta James was one of the greatest vocalists of our time. I am so fortunate to have met such a queen. Her musical contributions will last a lifetime. Playing Etta James taught me so much about myself, and singing her music inspired me to be a stronger artist.

When she effortlessly opened her mouth, you could hear her pain and triumph. Her deeply emotional way of delivering a song told her story with no filter. She was fearless, and had guts. She will be missed."
