Who Should Win: 'The Artist'. The low-budget black-and-white film managed to make a statement and leave a lasting impression without saying a single word.

Who Will Win: 'The Artist'.

Dark Horse: 'The Tree of Life' or 'The Descendants'.

Demian Bichir, A Better Life
Jean Dujardin, The Artist
Brad Pitt, Moneyball

Who Should Win: Jean Dujardin for 'The Artist'. To put it simply, he was a charmer from the moment he graced the screen and the main reason the unconventional film worked out so well.

Who Will Win: Jean Dujardin for 'The Artist'.

Dark Horse: George Clooney, Gary Oldman and Brad Pitt.

Clooney has previously won the Golden Globe and BFCA, Oldman finally scored a nomination after being overlooked for great performances, and Pitt has promoted more than any of the other actors and judging the complete year's work, he was easily the best of the nominees.

Who Should Win: Meryl Streep for 'The Iron Lady'. The movie itself is a chore to watch, but Streep is still exceptional.

Who Will Win: Viola Davis for 'The Help'. Davis' performance is not as good or as showy as Streep's, but her speeches this far have been heartfelt and touching, and that will give her the edge over Meryl.

Dark Horse: Michelle Williams for 'My Week with Marilyn.

Max Von Sydow, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close

Who Should Win: Christopher Plummer for 'Beginners'. He's a veteran actor and most importantly, he delivers a great performance. The awards season sweep will continue.

Who Will Win: Christopher Plummer for 'Beginners'.

Dark Horse: Max Von Sydow for 'Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close'.
