The surprise trend seems to be working and Frank Ocean is the latest success story.
The Grammy-winning crooner scores his first chart-topping album as his surprise release 'Blonde', bows atop the Billboard 200 with 276,000 equivalent album units shifted in its first week of release and logs the third-largest debut of the year behind Drake and Beyoncé.
The album was independently distributed after he opted to depart from Def Jam, and serves as the follow-up to 'Channel Orange', which won Best Urban Contemporary Album in 2013.
