Mariah Carey capped off her year by delivering trainwreck of a performance on 'Dick Clark’s Rockin' New Year's Eve with Ryan Seacrest', which saw the iconic singer come unhinged as she performed "Auld Lang Syne", "Emotions" and "We Belong Together".
"Well, happy new year", she quipped to the crowd as a backing track, which revealed the singer had planned to lip parts of the the performance, played in the background. "We can't hear." She continued to walk back and forth on the stage and cited the lack of preparation for the disasterous outing. "We didn't have a [sound]check for this song, so we'll just say, it went to No. 1. That's what it is… We're missing some of this vocal but it is what it is". Watch below:
T-R-A-I-N-W-R-E-C-K!!! After the performance her reps blamed it on "technical difficulties" and said that the show used her for ratings because they didn't cut to commercial once the disaster began to unfold, a claim that the producers of the annual celebration called "outrageous".
