TV REVIEW: 'CHASE', LACKS A MISSION

TV

The new series ‘Chase’ follows a group of U.S. Marshalls as they use their skills to track down the world’s most wanted criminals and find justice.

Led by Annie Frost (Kelli Giddish), the group including Jimmy Godfrey (Cole Hauser), Marco Martinez (Amaury Nolasco), Daisy Ogbaa (Rose Rollins) and newbie Luke Watson track the whereabouts of Mason Boyle.

Boyle, played by model/actor Travis Fimmel, a smart felon who escape prison five years ago and has been robbing and killing wealthy families since his release.

There are thrilling action sequences including the opening number where the runner asks, “Didn’t your mother teach you a girl shouldn’t play with guns?”, before she reveals that her mother died, while simultaneously taking him down.

That said, the Jerry Bruckheimer-action procedural problems start with the troubled and traumatic past of the leading lady, who is as cliché as they come in shows of this aura, in fact, the most interesting character arises in Luke Watson.

Played by acting hunk Jesse Metcalfe, the fresh and new addition to the group is clearly smart, but inexperienced as his slip-up in the pilot shows, and you can only imagine the fun that in store for him as the future cases unfold.

FINAL VERDICT
Despite being loaded with action, the problems are visible for ‘Chase’, and you leave the show just as you arrived, without knowing anymore about the core characters or the mission that are each seeking to accomplish.

As a result of this writing error, it is impossible to find the connection to the show that will keep you coming back week after week, but fortunately, it’s a problem that can be fixed in matter of a couple of episodes. (B-)
