TV REVIEW: A MIND-BLOWING 'EVENT'

TV

‘The Event’, is a thriller courtesy of writer Nick Wauters, about an everyday man who stumbles upon the biggest government conspiracy in history.

The first episode plays it careful and doesn’t reveal many too details of the event, but we are introduced to the core characters and some of their agendas.

Sophia Maguire (Laura Innes), is a prisoner being held with ninety-six others in an Alaska camp and President Elias Martinez (Blair Underwood) decides to free them against the wishes of his advisor Blake Sterling (Zeljko Ivanek).

Embroiled amidst the action is the abduction of Leila (Sarah Roemer), which forces her boyfriend Sean Walker (Jason Ritter) to began searching for answers.

Added with airplane terrorism, political intrigue and the mystery of just how Leila’s father Michael (Scott Patterson) is connected to the event, and you have the beginning of what is sure to unfold out into a great story of mystery.

That said, one key problem that the writers will likely want to avoid delivering heavy doses of is the aggravating time jumps between the past and present.

FINAL VERDICT
‘The Event’, is sure to please those that were fans of serialized dramas ‘24’ and ‘Lost’, and the greatest thing about the premiere episode is that it reveal just enough to peak our interests and have us running back for a second dose. (A+)
