On Easter Sunday, it was a star-studded celebration of women empowerment as BET aired their annual Black Girls Rock! event, which honored six extraordinary women including Jada Pinkett Smith, Cicely Tyson and Erykah Badu.

In addition to the honorees, the event featured performances from Ciara, Jill Scott, Faith Evans, Fantasia and Estelle. Watch some of the performances from the celebration beneath:

The stars of R&B came out in full force for the 2013 Essence Music Festival in New Orleans, Louisiana, over the weekend. Brandy, Maxwell, Jill Scott and Chrisette Michele were just a few of the stars that graced the stage.

On Friday (July 5th), Brandy made her debut at the annual event by entertaining the crowd with her biggest hits including "The Boy is Mine", while Maxwell, Scott and Michele all hit the stage on the festival's crowd Saturday night. Watch it beneath:
