12. Alicia Keys - As I Am – 5.792.960

Just further goes to show that image is more important than actual talent these days. I really have to give Rihanna her props though, because to take the minimal talent she has and transform it into super stardom amazes me, I mean Janet, Madonna, and Britney all came before her, but they were all exciting and transcendent performers, what does Rihanna offer?

I'm personally still trying to figure that out.

  2. Please read it again, the blogger was clearly trying to state that neither Britney, Janet, or Madonna could singe, but they were good performers, and Rihanna is neither.

  3. lol.....It all just strikes me as a sad example of how much the music industry is lacking in innovation. Now talentless, "artists" can come out of nowhere, sing catchy yet pointless songs about umbrellas and be turned into "superstars" by stylists and producers. Lordy!! Then people proclaim her the "it girl". At least Madonna, Britney and Janet are true performers and I keep seeing comparisons between her and beyonce. what a joke!!

  4. In fairness to Alicia, B-Day and Good Girl Gone Bad were not only released 6 mths-1 year before As I AM, but also had re-releases.

  5. Rihanna is in the top 10 and that's all that matters. The fans have responded. Who cares what you think about singing/talent. Janet can't sing, her dancing is sub par now, Madonna is definitely not a singer, and Rihanna is a combination of the two. Beyonce is history, well on her way to being a tragic hype story in the history of music. Her BDay album was out and took nearly 2 years to sell 5 million and she had a re-release . Beyonce is not as big as her image that's for sure. Look at her recent sales, she can't even sell a million copies in opening weeks, and sold less. Alicia Keys is a superstar. She joins the ranks of Pink and Fergie. They are less predictable, and strong on substance. Goooooo Rihanna make them all squirm, especially overrated Beyonce.
