Mariah Carey has rerecorded her classic hit 'Hero' for a new compilation called The Ballads, available in the U.S. on January 20 through her former Sony Music label.
The album will feature 18 of Mariah’s best-known songs including 'One Sweet Day', 'Vision of Love', 'Always Be My Baby',and 'Dreamlover'. Watch the accompanying 'Hero' video below:

I have to say I am a little puzzled as to why Mariah would dare try to re-record such a vocally challenging song, since its obvious that her voice doesn't contain the fire it once did. High notes and harmonies that existed in the original, fail to live on, and honestly Mariah just put herself on the line to be scrutinized with this lifeless take on the classic.
Not only did it give the audience a blunt display of her narrowed vocals, but it also decreased the value of the record in the process.
Oh i love Mariah but that just proves how much her voice has been battered over the yrs!
