Monique, along with newcomer Gabourey Sidibe, Paula Patton, Mariah Carey and Lenny Kravitz, star in 'Precious', the story of Claireece Precious Jones, who endures unimaginable hardships in her young life. Abused by her mother, raped by her father, she grows up poor, angry, illiterate, fat, unloved and generally unnoticed. So what better way to learn about her than through her own, halting dialect.Based on the novel 'Push' by Sapphire, the film is already garnishing early Oscar buzz and has collected the Grand Jury and Audience awards at Sundance. Additionally, the film is being presented by Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry.
The Lionsgate film opens in theaters on November 6th.
