R&B star Amerie offers up another sample from her forthcoming Def Jam debut, In Love & War, on the latest Tapemasters Inc. mixtape with a preview of "Red Eye".
Although I've enjoyed several of Amerie's slower cuts (see: "Why Don't We Fall In Love" & "When Loving U Was Easy"), I'm still waiting for a track from her that captures a sound and vibe that embodies crossover appeal. She touched on it before with "1 Thing" and several cuts from the stunning and criminally underrated 'Because I Love It', but judging by the tracks surfacing this time around, it seems like those have been put away for a sound that's more in the vein of adult contemporary.
That said, the Bryan Michael Cox-produced cut isn't bad, in fact, the track is decent and it probably reigns as the project best offering thus far. Whether that's a good indicator or not, lies in your court.
