US Charts: Rihanna Lands First No.1 Album

Rihanna

Rihanna has a couple of reasons to celebrate this week. Not only does her single "Diamonds" remain atop the Billboard Hot 100 for a second week, but the singer has also scored her very first No.1 album with 'Unapologetic'.

According to Nielsen SoundScan, the seventh of her career sold 238,000 copies in its first week beating all other new releases and garnishing her the first all-genre Billboard 200 topper. The disc follows six top 10 sets dating back to her first project in 2005.

Taylor Swift holds strong at No.2 selling another 185,000 copies of 'Red', while last week's chart-topper One Direction falls to No.3 with 176,000 copies sold of 'Take Me Home' in its second week of release (dropping 67% for its first week).

The latest 'American Idol' winner Phillip Phillips and his debut studio album 'The World From the Side of the Moon' debuts at No.4 with 169,000 copies sold on the strength of his double platinum single "Home".

Elsewhere in the top 10, Kid Rock debuts at No.5 with 'Rebel Soul' (146,000), Rod Stewart remain at No.6 for a second week with 'Merry Christmas, Baby' (117,000), Pink jumps back into the top 10 with 'The Truth About Love' (114,000), Jason Aldean's 'Night Train' moves up to No.8 (103,000), Led Zeppelin's live set comes in at No.9 and Keyshia Cole closes out the top 10 with 'Woman to Woman' debuting with just 96,000 copies sold. The soul singer's fifth consecutive top 10 debut in five attempts.
