2013 Academy Awards: Nominations

Last week, the nominations for the 85th Annual Academy Awards were announced and director Steven Spielberg's historical drama 'Lincoln' led the pack with an astounding 12 nominations, followed by Ang Lee's 'Life of Pi' with 11.

The musical 'Les Miserables', directed by Tom Hooper, and David O. Russell's adaptation of 'Silver Linings Playbook', which scored nominations for Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence, tied with eight nominations each.

Lead Actor nominees included the previously-mentioned Cooper, Denzel Washington, Hugh Jackman, Joaquin Phoenix and Daniel Day-Lewis, while the Lead Actress category makes history with the oldest (Emmanuelle Riva) and youngest (Quvenzhané Wallis) nominee ever, who are joined by Jessica Chastain, Naomi Watts and the previously-mentioned Lawrence.

The biggest snub included Ben Affleck and Kathryn Bigelow, who were both considered locks, being shut out of the Best Director category. Nominees beneath:
