As Usher gears up to release his sixth studio album 'Raymond v. Raymond' in March, the lead single from the project has surfaced with "Hey Daddy (Daddy's Home)", which features rapper Plies. "Papers" has been deemed a buzz single.
Aside from Plies' annoying rant, this one is hitting all the right notes and slightly uplifts my spirits about his upcoming project. The record has a sexiness about it and his signature swagger continues to ride a thin line between cocky and confident.
Plies gets some help from Grammy winner Ashanti for his latest video, “Want It, Need It”. The clip was co-directed by Yolanda Gerald and Plies and shot in Atlanta. Check it out:
The video is typical Plies, which is never a good thing, as for Ashanti, she really needs to pull herself together, because she's been making bad decision after bad decision lately and the effects are wearing very much on her career and relevancy.

Ashanti's look is giving me a Janet Jackson feel, that said, I can't say I hate it, but I'm definitely not loving it.
As for the song, its going to be a big hit, especially since Urban radio seems to love Plies, in addition, it would have worked out well for Ashanti if she'd had a single to release to capitalize off the song, since her career is in some serious need of revival. Though she released one of the best R&B albums last year, it seems like internal issues are holding her back, such as management and her label troubles. Here's hoping she get both of those issues straight before her upcoming fifth album, which will see a fourth release later this year.
Plies will go behind the lens on Monday to shoot the video for “Want It, Need It,” the second single off his third album Da REAList. He will be joined by Ashanti on the J.R. Rotem-produced track.
The shoot will take place in Atlanta with Yolanda Gerald and Plies directing.
Fresh off the gold status of his sophomore album, 'Definition Of Real', which featured the mega hit, 'Bust It Baby (Part 2)' featuring Ne-Yo. Plies is back with his third album, 'Da REAList', which marks the Florida based rapper's third full length release in just under 16 months.
For the most part, the effort seems to stick to an traditional Plies album, as he once again conquers the topics of sex, goons, and family, unfortunately, like in the past, that just doesn't prove to be enough.
The lead single, 'Put It On Ya', as well as the J.R. produced, 'Want It, Need It', which each receive assistance from newcomer Chris J and R&B songstress Ashanti respectively, are both winners, however, its the featured guests that steer the tracks to that status not Plies.
The striking, 'Family Straight', is where Plies' emotion shines through in a way that the rapper rarely showcases, in fact, it makes such an interesting, compelling argument that you can't help, but feel for him. 'Heard of Me', where Plies establishes that he isn't willing to compromise himself to be successful, also shows another trait that you can't help, but admire.
The Sean Garrett, 'Street Light', is another track on the grounds of solid.
Unfortunately, the bulk of the album is easily a miss, mostly because of the extremely monogamous subject matter.
Put simply, Plies isn't a great rapper, he isn't even a good one, but he does come across straight forward and to the point, which makes him easy to relate to, still it doesn't camouflage, the fact, that he was retaliating the same thing over all 16 tracks.
A better effort than his debut, worse than his sophomore, but still in signature Plies format, so if you enjoyed his previous releases, then this one should follow suit.
Ashanti glows at the 2008 RexCorp Plaza Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in Uniondale, New York on Saturday. The R&B singer can be heard on Plies’ potential second single, “Want It, Need It,” off his third album 'Da REAList'. Listen below:
Ashanti looks cute, as for the song, the song is definitely going to be another radio hit for Plies, granted it actually sees release as a single, in fact, its right up the ally of 'Bust It Baby (Pt.2)'. Good stuff, all the same.
Check out a sneak peek at Plies’ video for his second single “Please Excuse My Hands” featuring Jamie Foxx and The-Dream. The video was directed by Zipper On Butta-Fly Leather.
