"As artists we wanted something that took us out of our comfort zones. Just being raw actors. It’s not the safest idea. But life is short," the actress says, while insisting that their real life relationship doesn't mirror the movie. "It’s not autobiographical. Brad and I have our issues, but if the characters’ were even remotely close to our problems we couldn’t have made the film."

In what is being referred to as her most candid interview ever, Carrie Underwood graces the October 26th issue of 'PEOPLE' magazine and dishes on the pressures of balancing her marriage to Mike Fisher with a successful career with a new baby.

"You feel guilty about every single thing, every decision you make, everything you do," she tells the magazine. The country star, who gave birth to son Isaiah Michael Fisher in February, also opened up about breastfeeding, noting that she plans to nurse her baby “as long as I can take it."

"It’s hard," the co-host of the 2015 Country Music Association Awards added. "My supply is pretty nil. We have to supplement with formula. I’m doing the best I can, you know?”

The Grammy winner also admits that she never saw marriage or motherhood as her future. "I never dreamt of my wedding day and the perfect guy," she says. "Then I met Mike, and I was like, ‘Wow, so now I know what I was missing.’ And the same with my son. The Kardashian and Jenner sisters, who are referred to by the magazine as "America's First Family", grace the November cover of 'Cosmopolitan' to celebrate the magazine's 50th anniversary, which is the first time they have all appeared on a cover together since 2011.

"No one could have predicted the Kardashians' and Jenners' success. But when you spend time with them, what resonates is the family unit. There are so many things about them that are glamorous, crazy, and unlike our lives, but the sense of family is universal. They love and stand by one another no matter what," says Ryan Seacrest, the executive producer of 'Keeping Up With the Kardashians' and the family's self-described "big brother".

The producing mogul continues by saying, "Their unvarnished candor reveals how close they really are. What's more, they present acceptance. You look at Bruce and now Caitlyn — you see the power of a family to come together when it would be so easy to fall apart. There's comfort in viewing that steadfastness of love." The new issue is currently available on newsstands.

Review: Janet Jackson - 'Unbreakable'

10/15/2015 0
Janet Jackson : Unbreakable (Album Cover) photo ecb0b7f2.jpg

Seven years after the release of her underrated ‘Discipline’ album, Janet Jackson makes a triumph return to the scene with ‘Unbreakable’, her eleventh studio album.

As evidence by her world tour, which kicked off in August and shares the album’s title, Jackson has once again reinvented herself by opting for a more demure approach this time around. Whether this change is tied to the conservative views of her billionaire husband Wissam Al Mana or simply Jackson embracing her position as a 49-year-old woman instead of trying defy it like some of her peers (Mariah Carey and Madonna), it is a welcomed change and sonically, it produces some rewarding results. Here are our top 5 moments and overall thoughts beneath:

Top 5 Moments from ‘Unbreakable’

5. “After You Fall”: With just a piano and her voice, Jackson captivates on the disc’s most minimal moment. Her voice has never soared or amazed like Whitney Houston or Celine Dion, but her success has rivaled (and maybe even surpassed) them because of her and producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis’ awareness of what her voice is and what it does best. Whether it be a defiant anthem like “Nasty”, an overly-sexualized rampage like “Any Time, Any Place” or a traditional love ballad like “Again”, they always craft songs that bring out the best parts of her voice and that is undeniably evident here.

4. “Unbreakable”: Serving as the album’s opener and title track, it arises as a moving tribute to the fans that have stuck with her through thick and thin as she describes a love that survives the test of time and defies the odds in a way that doesn’t feel cliché. It stands as a humbling moment for the iconic singer, who openly gives her supporters credit (“The truth is I wouldn’t be here without the love I stand on”) and admits that for her it is the greatest love. It’s a connection that much like Jackson herself has proven to be “Unbreakable”, and while I think this would have been a poignant way to close out the set, the message still resonates.

3. “Dammn Baby”: Imparting her wisdom on the younger generation, here she seems to challenge artists to create their own trends instead of following them and to “get up off that grey line”. The message is cleverly wrapped in the midst of an infectious beat and hook that keeps it from coming off as cocky or rude, but it is a message that needs to be heard and her delivery is spot on.

2. “The Great Forever”: Utilizing her voice in a style that is reminiscent of her late brother Michael Jackson, she addresses the rumors surrounding her relationship with Al Mana and insists that the unsolicited opinions “don't mean nothing at all” and “doesn't change who I love”. The overall message is not simply to defend her relationship, but to encourage people to live their lives in a way that makes them the happiest and leads them to “The Great Forever”. Whatever that means to them.

1. “BURNITUP!”: The dance floor ready jam is equipped with the classic sound that we are accustomed to hearing from her, while simultaneously being current enough to fit in with today’s musical landscape. As always, Missy Elliott adds a fun and flirty fare to mix and it cultivates into one of, if not, the disc’s most enjoyable moment – certainly the most radio friendly.

Honorable Mention

“Broken Hearts Heal”: While “The Great Forever” may borrow vocal stylings from her brother, this is actually the song that is about him. She reflects on their childhood and references growing up with an abusive father (“We danced and sang our way through most anything”), while also acknowledging the bond that they shared as adults. But, it’s not a sad song and instead sees Jackson finding solace in the fact that one day they will see each other again.

“Night”: This funky groove recalls vintage Prince in the best way and Jackson is arguably the only artist besides the man himself that could effectively pull this off. It is a blast from the past of sorts, but still feels current and will undeniably find its place as a dance floor staple.

Final Verdict

With ‘Unbreakable’, Janet Jackson has accomplished just what she set out to do, which is to simply make music that continues to push boundaries and embody who she is as an artist. There is no need or desire to chase trends, because she created them, and while there are not a lot of commercial ambitious songs here, it still results in her most fulfilling set since the Super Bowl scandal.

Rihanna Stuns On 'T' Magazine Cover

Pop superstar Rihanna gets recognized as one of 'The Greats' in the October 25th issue of T: The New York Times Style Magazine, where she gets candid with author and filmmaker Miranda July on how being a black woman has affected her career.

"People are judging you because you’re packaged a certain way -- they’ve been programmed to think a black man in a hoodie means grab your purse a little tighter," she told July.

"For me, it comes down to smaller issues, scenarios in which people can assume something of me without knowing me, just by my packaging." She added that when she began to "have [her] race be highlighted," it had the most impact on the business end of her work. "That never ends, by the way," she said. "It’s still a thing. And it’s the thing that makes me want to prove people wrong. It almost excites me; I know what they’re expecting and I can’t wait to show them that I’m here to exceed those expectations.’" Read the full interview here and peep more photos beneath:

Janet Jackson Scores Historic Seventh No.1 Album With 'Unbreakable'

10/12/2015 0

Janet Jackson is back on top of the charts as 'Unbreakable' debuts atop the Billboard 200 and her reign at the top puts her in the history books as only the third artist (and the first black artist) to have No.1 albums in each of the last four decades

Barbra Streisand and Bruce Springsteen are the other two. Additionally, the album, which old 109,000 in pure album sales, marks her seventh chart-topper and among women that places her in third place for the most leaders behind Streisand (10) and Madonna (8).

The set, which is Jackson's first to be independently released by her Rhythm Nation label through BMG, also begins at No.1 on the Independent Albums chart and it should be noted that she accomplished all of this without any televised performances or media interviews. Congrats!!!

Taylor Swift Seduces On 'GQ' Cover

10/12/2015 0

Pop superstar Taylor Swift is on top of the world and the climb continues as she plays cover girl on the sultry November issue of GQ magazine, where she will dish on a wide range of topics including Kanye West in her first-ever cover of the publication.

The cover story itself, which will be released next week, was written by noted critic and novelist Chuck Klosterman, and in the article he writes, "If you don’t take Swift seriously, you don’t take contemporary music seriously. There’s simply no antecedent for this kind of career: a cross-genre, youth-oriented, critically acclaimed colossus based entirely on the intuitive songwriting merits of a single female artist. It’s as if mid-period Garth Brooks was also early Liz Phair, minus the hat and the swearing. As a phenomenon, it’s absolutely new." Like it or not, he has a point!!!

Halle Berry Agrees To Cancel 'Extant'; Readies New Legal Drama For CBS

After two seasons and a creative revamp, CBS and Halle Berry has pulled the plug on the sci-fi drama series 'Extant' and simultaneously put into development 'Legalease', a legal drama that the Oscar winner will executive produce (and possibly star in).

"CBS, Halle Berry and the producers have decided to conclude the Extant story after last season’s exciting and fitting conclusion," said Glenn Geller, President of CBS Entertainment. "Extant played an important role in expanding CBS’ lineup of original scripted programming in the summer. We are proud of the show’s success on the network, as well as its popularity on Amazon Prime Video. We also want to thank the incomparable Halle Berry for her commitment and support for the series and look forward to working with her on our next project together."

Berry, who will next be seen on the big screen in 'Kidnap', echoed his statement saying, "I am so proud of what we accomplished on Extant. This season seemed such a natural place to end Molly’s journey that I, along with CBS, felt it best served the story to leave it there. ‎It was my first foray into episodic television, and I’m excited to continue my relationship with CBS, producing more compelling stories through my 606 Films production banner."

As for 'Legalease', the projetc, written by Steven Lichtman, centers on a biracial lawyer from Chicago who follows a case to New Orleans, where she finds herself partnering with a good ol’ boy white attorney while working in a very particular justice system that will ultimately expose the biases we all harbor. Berry is currently just set to produce, but it sounds like perfect fit for her.
