Cardi B Stuns With Baby Kulture On Historic 'Vogue' Cover

12/10/2019 0

Cardi B adds another historic honor to her resume by becoming the first female rapper to cover American edition of Vogue, where she gets candid about forgiveness, motherhood and the pressures of fame in the January 2020 issue with a beautiful shoot courtesy of Annie Leibovitz.

On Forgiving Offset After Cheating Scandal: “My thing is, everybody on social media acts like relationships is perfect,” Cardi says. “And that’s crazy to me. I’m around so many women, and there’s always a woman talking about how she loves her man, but her man is not financially stable, or she has a problem with his mom, or the sex is not as good anymore. Everybody has issues. I believe in forgiveness. I prayed on it. Me and my husband, we prayed on it. We had priests come to us. And we just came to an understanding like, bro, it’s really us against the world. He has my back for everything, I have his back for everything, so when you cheat, you’re betraying the person that has your back the most. Why would you do that? We have come to a clear understanding. For me, monogamy is the only way. I’ll beat your ass if you cheat on me.”

On Motherhood: “I could shake my ass, I could be the most ratchet-est person ever, I could get into a fight tomorrow, but I’m still a great mom,” she says. “All the time I’m thinking about my kid. I’m shaking my ass, but at the same time I’m doing business, I’m on the phone with my business manager saying, make sure that a percentage of my check goes to my kid’s trust. I give my daughter so much love, and I’m setting her up for a future. I want to tell her that a lot of the shit that I have done in life—no matter what I did, knowing that I wanted to have kids made me go harder to secure a good future for my kids.”

On Feeling the Pressure For Her Sophomore Album: “The first time it was just me being myself,” she says. “I didn’t even care if people was gonna like it or not. When I found out I did so good, I’m like, is this a big number? Everybody was like, yes, this is a huge number. So it’s scary because it’s like, now you got to top your first album, and then it’s like, damn. I wonder if people are gonna relate to the new things, to the new life, to the new shit that I gotta talk about now. Music is changing. I feel like people just wanna hear twerk-twerk music, but it’s like, is that just a phase? I probably need a sexy song. I need a lot of turn-up songs. I need a slow song, a personal song. And those are harder for me—I always need help when it comes to talking about my feelings. It’s hard for me to be soft, period. So it’s a lot of thoughts, a lot of pressure. It’s really like a job.”

Kendall Jenner Lands September 'Vogue'

8/28/2016 0

It's yet another win for the Kardashian-Jenner clan!!! Landing the most important magazine cover of the year, Kendall Jenner fronts the September issue of Vogue magazine.

Shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, the issue sees the supermodel open up about gaining the respect of the modeling world, learning from her sisters' mistakes and the first time she met Caitlyn Jenner. Read excerpts for her interview and see another stunning shot beneath:

On the Kardashian Name: "People say a lot of what they think, and it's not always positive. And we never say anything. We just take it. And then when people meet us, they're pleasantly surprised. Because we aren't what people think. One of the best lessons I ever learned from my sisters is not to take everything so seriously. Just leave it alone — it will pass in a week. That's how I grew up. My sisters are so f*cking strong, and they taught me and my little sister to just toughen up and not let it affect us. You know what's real."

On Being Taken Seriously: "Marc invited my whole family to that first show, and I was like, 'I love you guys, but can you please just not come?' I was trying so hard to be taken seriously, like, 'Guys: This is not a joke or a stunt; this is what I want to do with my life.' I had to prove that I could do it. And now I feel like I'm a part of something. I feel I have accomplished something that is mine."

On Learning From Her Sisters' Mistakes: "Obviously, my success came after my sisters' — I got to see all of their mistakes and watch out for them."

On Meeting Caitlyn: "Obviously it's strange having your dad, who was so male, completely reverse. It is definitely a gnarly experience. But my whole life we would, like, catch her, and we would be like, 'What is going on here?' I think we know, but do we? At one point Kylie and I thought he was cheating on my mom, because he had makeup and nail polish. One time we found those squishy boob things. We found wigs. And then one time I actually ran into her. In this house. She had no idea. She would wake up really early just so she could dress up and move around the house and get that little kick for the morning, and then go back to being Bruce — take us to school, totally normal. So one morning I woke up at 4:00 a.m. so thirsty, came downstairs into the kitchen, and grabbed a bottle of water. And as I was coming back out, my dad was coming down the stairs in, like, a wig and makeup and shoes — the full nine. And she didn't see me. I literally froze. Please don't turn left. Because she could either turn left or turn right. Thank God she turned right and — to this day! — has no idea that happened."

Taylor Swift Switches Up Style For 'Vogue'

4/24/2016 0

Pop superstar Taylor Swift debuts a new look on the May issue of Vogue magazine, where she dishes on her relationship with Calvin Harris, when fans can expect a follow-up to '1989' and her on-agai/off-again friendship with Kanye West. Read excerpts from her interview beneath:

On Calvin Harris:
"I’m just taking things as they come. I’m in a magical relationship right now. And of course I want it to be ours, and low-key - this is the one thing that’s been mine about my personal life."

On Her Next Album:
"I have no idea. This is the first time in 10 years that I haven’t known. I just decided that after the past year, with all of the unbelievable things that happened… I decided I was going to live my life a little bit without the pressure on myself to create something. I’m always going to be writing songs. The thing is, with me, I could very well come up with three things in the next two weeks and then jump back into the studio, and all of a sudden the next record is started. That’s an option, too."

On Kanye West:
"I think the world is bored with the saga. I don't want to add anything to it, because then there's just more... I guess what I wanted to call attention to in my speech at the Grammys was how it's going to be difficult if you're a woman who wants to achieve something in her life -- no matter what."

Angelina Jolie Covers 'Vogue'

Her on-screen reunion with husband Brad Pitt in 'By the Sea' is set to hit theaters next month, and Academy Award-winning actress Angelina Jolie, who directed and wrote the film, talks about the project as she brings her beauty to the November issue of Vogue.

"As artists we wanted something that took us out of our comfort zones. Just being raw actors. It’s not the safest idea. But life is short," the actress says, while insisting that their real life relationship doesn't mirror the movie. "It’s not autobiographical. Brad and I have our issues, but if the characters’ were even remotely close to our problems we couldn’t have made the film."

Lupita Nyong'o Makes Golden Return On Second 'Vogue' Cover

9/20/2015 0
Lupita Nyong'o : Vogue (October 2015) photo lupita-nyongo-vogue-cover-october-2015-10.jpg

Making her second appearance on the cover of Vogue, stunning actress Lupita Nyong'o makes a golden appearance on the October issue of the publication, which sees her Yale education, America vs. Kenya and eventually having a family.

On Her Yale Education: “Before, I was just going on instinct, but Yale taught me that it’s about giving yourself permission to pretend.”

On America vs. Kenya: “I definitely feel there’s a lot of America in me. The idea that you can be self-made is very vibrant in America. You can do anything that you want to do. That spirit pushes you on. But it took me leaving Kenya to really appreciate the glory of the place. Ultimately. I will always be a child of Kenya.”

On Having A Family: “This is my conundrum. When I was back in Kenya this past week, I would be driving along with my mother and she would say, ‘That’s a nice school for children’ and look at me like——” Lupita raises her eyebrows as if to say, My mom wants me to have children now. “But I think that will all be determined when I have that moment. When I have that man.”

On Blackness: “As Africans, we don’t grow up with a racial identity. We grow up with cultural and ethnic identity before racial identity. I never used the word black as a child. It was never a thing. When was I ever discussing black? Why?”

All Hail The Queen!!! Landing the most important magazine cover of the year, Beyoncé fronts the September issue of Vogue magazine, becoming only the third African-American woman following Naomi Campbell and Halle Berry to grace the covet issue.

Shot by Mario Testino and slated to hit newsstands on August 25th, another interesting fact about the cover is that the star only appears in photos and declined to be interviewed by the publication. This is unusual for Vogue, but certainly not for Mrs. Carter. Sigh!

'Fifty Shades Of Grey' Stars: Jamie Dornan Gets Intense On Sexy 'Details' Cover, Dakota Johnson Lands First 'Vogue' Cover

2/01/2015 0
With 'Fifty Shades of Grey' due in theaters in less than two weeks, actor Jamie Dornan, who plays Christian Grey in the R-rated flick, covers for the February 2015 issue of Details, where he shares his fears of how fans will react to him playing the character.

Based on the first book of E. L. James' popular romance novel trilogy, the film sees the 32-year-old actor's character, a mysterious billionaire in his 20s, romances innocent young Anastasia Steele, played by Dakota Johnson, and teaches her all about sex and specifically his secret passion, BDSM.

"I almost don't want to put this out there into the ether, but I fear I'll get murdered, like John Lennon, by one of those mad fans at the premiere," Dornan revealed to the publication.

"Because a lot of people are very angry that I'm playing this character. And I'm a father now, and a husband. I don't want to die yet. And when I do get murdered," he continued. "People will say, 'God, isn't it haunting how he did that interview in Details magazine and predicted his own death on the red carpet?'" Lupita Nyong'o Glows On Her First 'Vogue' Cover

Lupita Nyong'o : Vogue (July 2014) photo Lupita_Nyongo-Vogue-Inside.jpg

Breakout star Lupita Nyong'o shows no signs of slowing down. After winning an Academy Award in March for her first movie role, slaying red carpet after red carpet and being named the World's Most Beautiful Woman by PEOPLE magazine, the actress further cements her incredible year by scoring her for first cover of Vogue with the publication's July issue.

In the magazine, the actress, who has booked a role in 'Star Wars: Episode VII' and the lead in 'Americanah', talks about her zero to sixty rise to stardom, not wanting to play second fiddle to Jennifer Lawrence and the joy and intimidation of '12 Years A Slave'. Read excerpts beneath:

On Her Zero To Sixty Rise to Stardom:
"It just feels like the entertainment industry exploded into my life. People who seemed so distant all of a sudden were right in front of me and recognizing me -- before I recognized them! For a split second I looked behind me to see who they were flashing at — and it was me! That was, I think, the beginning of the end of my anonymity. Even in my dreams of being an actor, my dream was not in the celebrity."

On Not Wanting To Trip Like Jennifer Lawrence:
"It's not cute if you follow Jennifer Lawrence, it's not cute if you're the second one," the actress say of fearing she would fall on her way to stage. "People are still filling me in on what happened after. My mother says I cried during the speech; I don't believe her."

On the Joy and Intimidation of Her '12 Years A Slave' Role:
"I remember it being one of the most joyful times in my life -- and also one of the most sorrowful. I didn’t want my experience to be a vain one. But I will say that when I watched it, my heartstrings were pulled so tight for [the character] Solomon that I couldn’t go into the ego trip. I cried -- I mean, I was inconsolable. I wept for an hour after the movie."

Charlize Theron Talks Sean Penn In 'Vogue'

5/24/2014 0
Charlize Theron : Vogue (June 2014) photo o-CHARLIZE-THERON-VOGUE-570.jpg

Academy Award-winning actress Charlize Theron, who was crowned 2013's Most Beautiful Woman, puts her stunning looks to work by gracing the June 2014 issue of Vogue, which is scheduled to grace newsstands on Tuesday, May 27th.

In the new issue, the beauty, who next stars opposite Seth MacFarlane in 'A Million Ways to Die in the West', opens up about her love life including her beau Sean Penn, her thoughts on marriage and how he won her over. Read excerpts beneath:

On Rumors She's Dating Sean Penn:
"Look, we’re dating, and I don’t think we were trying to hide anything."

On The Media's Fascination With Her Personal Life:
"I recently did a daylong press junket, which I hadn’t done in forever, and it’s a harsh reminder that whatever people try to hide a press junket behind, it’s really a roundabout way of getting at as much private sh*t as they can. It was all about what I like to eat and avoiding questions about Sean."

On Marriage:
"I really do understand the importance and what that ceremony represents to so many people, but it’s just such a personal thing. Let’s put it this way: I never had the dream of the white dress. And watching other people getting married? I think it’s beautiful for them, but to be quite honest, usually I’m sitting there just devastated. It’s supposed to be this night of celebrating love, and all you see is a couple separated all night making sure everybody else is OK. It just looks like a lot of work. And as you get older, you start sifting through the stuff that really matters."

On Going From Friends To A Relationship With Sean:
"Going about dating in your late 30s is such a different ball game. I know so well what I want to fit in my life. And the simple answer to that is: Unless he can make my life better? My life is really pretty f*cking good. What I guess I am trying to say is: A friend kind of stepped into that role, and I really didn’t see it coming. Sean and I have known each other for eighteen years. We were just really good friends. And it’s been slow going because you are aware that you could screw that up and lose it. We had to think about it. But at the end of the day, it was somewhat effortless. It just kind of naturally happened, and before I knew it, I was in something that was making my life better - the people who really love me can see the effect it has had on me."

'A Dream Come True': Kim Kardashian Stuns On First 'Vogue' Cover With Kanye West

3/23/2014 0
Kim Kardashian has saw another one of her dreams come true!!!

The reality superstar and her rapper fiance, Kanye West, have landed the cover of the April 2014 issue of Vogue magazine, which means she has gained the approval of Anna Wintour.

The couple, who will reportedly wed on May 24th, give readers an inside look at their glamourous lifestyle and their gorgeous daughter North also appears in the spread, which was shot by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz.

Love her or hate her, there is simply no denying that Miss Kardashian looks absolutely stunning on the cover and as Wintour, the queen of fashion, pointed out in her statement, both she and West (#WorldsMostTalkedAboutCouple) have pretty much conquered every avenue of media available to them (and might I add, very successfully). Unlike others, I do not believe this hurts the magazine's brand or credibility, in fact, it makes sense because both have constantly expressed their love for fashion, both have their own clothing lines and their polarizing status in the world will only bring more attention to issue, which I think will end up as one of their best-sellers. Peep the Vogue editor-in-chief's statement defending her decision to put the duo on the cover and go behind-the-scenes of the shoot beneath:

"Part of the pleasure of editing Vogue, one that lies in a long tradition of this magazine, is being able to feature those who define the culture at any given moment, who stir things up, whose presence in the world shapes the way it looks and influences the way we see it. I think we can all agree on the fact that that role is currently being played by Kim and Kanye to a T. (Or perhaps that should be to a K?)

As for the cover, my opinion is that it is both charming and touching, and it was, I should add, entirely our idea to do it; you may have read that Kanye begged me to put his fiancée on Vogue’s cover. He did nothing of the sort. The gossip might make better reading, but the simple fact of the matter is that it isn’t true.

There’s barely a strand of the modern media that the Kardashian Wests haven’t been able to master, and for good reason: Kanye is an amazing performer and cultural provocateur, while Kim, through her strength of character, has created a place for herself in the glare of the world’s spotlight, and it takes real guts to do that."

Rihanna Goes Simple For Third 'Vogue' Cover

3/05/2014 0
Making her mark on the publication's cover for the third time, Rihanna fronts the March 2014 issue of Vogue, where she dishes on stardom, being a rebel and her love for social media.

For her first magazine cover in 2014, the pop star went back to her black pixie haircut and minimal makeup, while donning embellished jeans and a sheer Louis Vuitton top for the cover.

The superstar, who looks great on the cover, previously covered the fashion bible in a see-through floral Chanel gown in April 2011 and in a mesmerizing red Valentino dress in November 2012, so where does her third outing rank compared to her past covers? Well, the chick simply can't take a bad photo and looks great here, but I would rank this cover firmly behind both of her past shoots for the esteemed magazine. Read excerpts from her interview and peep additional photos from her David Sims-photoshoot beneath:

On Her Rise To Fame: "I never wanted to be famous. I just wanted my music to be heard all over the world. Then it happened and the fame came with it. I can’t ever imagine feeling used to it."

On Being A Rebel: "I don’t go out of my way to be a rebel or to have that perception. But a lot of the decisions I make, a lot of the direction I want to move, is against the grain, or against society’s tight lane, and I’m aware of that sometimes. It might not be fitting with the norm, but that’s OK for me."

On Her Instagram Obsession: "Instagram is my way of communicating to the world. When I’m on tour, I keep fans in the loop. I don’t really think about it took much. Literally, I can be sitting in a car and be bored, so I I do a selfie just because I’m bored. Or if my dog is running around in circles and I think that’s funny, I put it on Instragram."

Jennifer Lawrence: Gorgeous 'Vogue' Cover Girl

8/18/2013 0
Jennifer Lawrence : Vogue (September 2013) photo jennifer-lawrence-vogue-cover.jpg

At just 23 years old, Jennifer Lawrence has landed the most covet cover of the year as she graces the September issue of Vogue magazine and the stunning 902-page issue is scheduled to arrive on newsstands on Tuesday, August 20th.

In the issue, the 'Hunger Games' star, who celebrated a birthday on August 15th, talks about why she decided to take on the franchise, her feelings on the paparazzi and why she chose to be an actress. Peep excerpts from her chat and another photo beneath:

On 'The Hunger Games':
"When Winter’s Bone was getting nominated. I had only done indies, and suddenly I was introduced to this brand-new world where I didn’t feel like myself. I was in these weird gowns and listening to people talk about things I didn’t understand. And I remember reading that in the book and being like, Oh, my God, I know exactly what this feels like. I don’t know what it’s like to get ready for your death, but I do know what it’s like to be almost a puppet. And then when I was making the second film, I had become more acquainted with that world, and I think that’s something that Katniss experiences. She is different when she comes back. She does feel more comfortable in the Capitol; she understands the people more, and it’s not as eerie and scary and unfamiliar. She kind of knows how to work the system."

On the Paparazzi:
"If I were just your average 23-year-old girl and I called the police to say that there were strange men sleeping on my lawn and following me to Starbucks, they would leap into action. But because I am a famous person, well, sorry, ma’am, there’s nothing we can do. It makes no sense… I am just not OK with it. It’s as simple as that. I am just a normal girl and a human being, and I haven’t been in this long enough to feel like this is my new normal. I’m not going to find peace with it."

On Why She Chose Acting:
"I know it sounds so stupid, but it was kind of like I finally found something people were telling me I was good at, which I had never heard, ever. And that was a big reason why my parents let me do this. One time, my mom was on the phone with my dad, saying, 'We're paying for therapy and all this medication, and we don't need it when she's here. She's happy.'"
