The Purple Prince was honored with numerous tributes during the 2016 BET Awards at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California on Sunday, June 26th, from the likes of Erykah Badu, Bilal, Stevie Wonder, Tori Kelly, Maxwell, Shelia E. and Janelle Monae, but Jennifer Hudson shine the brightest with a hair-raising and vocally-soaring performance of "Purple Rain", the legend's signature song. On Easter Sunday, it was a star-studded celebration of women empowerment as BET aired their annual Black Girls Rock! event, which honored six extraordinary women including Jada Pinkett Smith, Cicely Tyson and Erykah Badu.

From her trademark tuxedo to her musical taste, Janelle Monae has always been different and quite obscure in comparison to the other female artists in the music industry, and in her brand new video for her brand new single, 'Q.U.E.E.N.', she teams up with a female artist that is just as strange and intriguing: Erykah Badu.

Serving as the lead offering from her forthcoming 'The Electric Lady' album, the Alan Ferguson-directed video offers a unique take on fashion and uses it to create a visual world referred to as Project Q.U.E.E.N. Watch the newly-released music video beneath:

Last month, the 6th Annual BET Honors celebration was filmed in Washinton, D.C., and on Monday, February 11th, the event aired on BET and celebrated the work of honorees Halle Berry, Lisa Leslie, T.D. Jakes, Clarence Avant and Chaka Khan.
