'Scandal' actress Kerry Washington is featured on the September issue of InStyle magazine, where she dishes with Editor-in-Chief Ariel Foxman about her social media hiatus, expecting her second child and her fashion plan to share clothes with other pregnant women.

On Her Social Media Hiatus: "I was starting to feel overwhelmed, like there was too much noise. I felt like I had to get back to who Kerry really is … I felt like I needed to create a little more stillness around me. There’s something about pregnancy–that willingness to take up more space in the world — that is liberating."

On Expecting Her Second Child: "I think pregnancy prepares you for what’s next–that ‘fourth’ trimester of actually having the infant. There is so much about it that’s like the warm-up to the big game: the surrender, the lack of control. It’s a time to quiet other voices and really tune in to what’s right for me."

On Her Pregnancy Fashion Plan: "There’s nothing high-end for professional women who are pregnant. So for the show, we wind up just buying the same clothes. We will cut out the front of Armani trousers and put in a pregnancy panel. That’s what we do for everything. I also got this great idea from Jessica Alba: She told me she had this box of maternity clothes that she would ship from girlfriend to girlfriend … I’m now getting clothes back that I wore the first time. Everybody adds cute stuff to the box. You’re less afraid to spend money because you feel a lot of people are going to use it."

On Network Fights:
Washington: A producing credit "is something I made a choice not to fight for at Scandal because I really like the dynamics of our cast and the way we interact with the writers and producers as is, and I didn't feel like it was something that I needed there. But Confirmation was a different story because I was part of that from the very beginning, before we had a script. I was on as an executive producer, and I said to my co-producers, 'If you want me on as a vanity producer, I'm not interested in doing this project with you. I have real opinions and passionate ideas.'"

On Nudity:
Margulies: "It depends on the character you're playing. I've been playing the same character for seven seasons, and all of a sudden this season the girl is taking her clothes off. I'm seven years older than I was when I started it, and I love it. I mean, it's CBS, so there's only so much you can take off, but there's something great about seeing a woman in her 40s having sex with someone and not being inhibited."

On The 'Diva' Label:
Lopez: "I've always been fascinated by how much more well-behaved we have to be than men." In what way? "I got a moniker of being "the diva," which I never felt I deserved — which I don't deserve — because I've always been a hard worker, on time, doing what I'm supposed to do, and getting that label because you reach a certain amount of success. Or even sometimes I felt crippled to voice my opinion, especially because certain directors and the boys' club that they form can make you feel like, "Oh, I can't say anything." I was always fascinated by how I could see [a man] being late or being belligerent to a crew and it being totally acceptable; meanwhile, I'd show up 15 minutes late and be berated. And you watch this happen over and over and over again. Like, we're not allowed to have certain opinions or even be passionate about something, or they'll be like, 'God, she's really difficult.' It's like, 'Am I? Am I difficult because I care?'"

Emmy-nominated actress Kerry Washington looks beautiful in a simply sweatshirt as she graces the April 2016 cover of Elle magazine, where she dishes on taking her power to the next level by starring in and executive producing the HBO film, 'Confirmation'.

In the film, which is slated to debut on April 16th, Washington plays Anita Hill, who famously accused then Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas of sexual harassment, and in the issue, she talks about the importance of the event, learning not to compromise, the strength that her 'Scandal' character gave her and looking up to Shonda Rhimes. On The Importance of Anita Hill's Actions:
"This moment was so important because it created a language around women being able to protect themselves. The behavior that Anita Hill described was going on in a lot of offices throughout the country, and most people didn't think they were doing anything wrong. But this created awareness around that and around the need for women's voices to be heard in our public spaces, both testifying before Congress and sitting on the committee. It really was such a huge cultural shift."

On Speaking Her Truth Without Compromising:
"I'm a person who's always been politically active and passionate about people's rights. I marched against the [2004] Republican Convention. And as my career has expanded, it's been important for me to not stifle that voice. Because you want to be popular, you want people to hire you, and I have to make sure I don't do it less because I'm an actor."

On Olivia Pope Preparing Her For Motherhood:
"Even though Olivia Pope has obviously made the decision that she is not a mom," Washington says, in reference to the 2015 midseason finale, in which—spoiler—Pope gets an abortion, "playing her made me feel like I could be a mom. Because she knows there's always another way—there's always a way to fix it, there's always a way to solve it, to win. And I feel like playing her made me feel like, All right, I can do it. I will figure out how to juggle it all."

On Looking Up To Her Boss, Shonda Rhimes:
"She's been such an amazing resource, as a mom, and as a working mom...I am on one show and I have one kid, and she has three shows and three kids." Right now, she says, departing from her no-family-talk rule, her husband is at home listening to the audio version of Rhimes's book, the first-person self-help journey Year of Yes. "We bought it for a bunch of people for Christmas because I feel like it's a little bit of required reading."

The April issue of Elle will be available on newsstands nationwide on Tuesday, March 22nd.

Kerry Washington is all about moving forward in life!!! After giving birth to her daughter Isabelle last April, she dons sports bra and a leotard for the September issue of Self magazine.

Still, despite looking as fit as she ever has for the photo shoot, she actually would rather not hear that she has her pre-baby body back. "A few weeks ago, my manager asked: 'Do you feel like you're back? I feel like you're back.' She meant it as a total compliment, but we had this great conversation where I was like, 'You know what? I try really hard not to use that language, because it's not about going backward in life,'" the 'Scandal' actress explains.

"I've been really focused on not being 'back' to anything, but being the best version of myself right now," she adds. "My body is the site of a miracle now. I don't want to be pre-miracle." Bravo!!!

'Scandal' actress Kerry Washington brightens up the July issue of Glamour UK magazine in a yellow crochet-knit mini dress from Balmain, long loose curls and a bold lip for summer.

The 38-year-old style star, who is currently shooting preparing to play Anita Hill in the HBO film 'Confirmation', was named Best International TV Actress at the 2015 Glamour Women of the Year Awards in London on Wednesday (June 3rd). This is her sixth cover of the year! Wow!

Kerry Washington is racking up the magazine covers. After stunning covers for Marie Claire and Ebony, the star is white-hot as she covers Net-A-Porter's The Edit this week and talks about how she gets into character to play Olivia Pope on 'Scandal'.

"The biggest thing for me are the shoes," she says. "I’ll wear Uggs around set, but I can’t rehearse a scene in them because I don’t feel like Olivia until I put the shoes on. Shoes define how you walk in the world and how you stand, like: what is your posture in life?"

As for her day-to-day life, she says there is much more balance and depends on her mood. Adding, "For the red carpet, I’m totally a stiletto girl. But in the rest of my life, I'd say I'm 50/50. I love a good heel, but I also have a really great sneaker collection. That's the Bronx girl in me."

On Saturday (March 21st), Kerry Washington was on hand to accept the Vanguard Award at the 2015 GLAAD Media Awards and used the moment to deliver a powerful and moving speech in support of the fair treatment of everyone that garnished standing ovations.

"I'm going to say some stuff and I might be preaching to the choir, but I'm going to say it. Not just for us, but because on Monday morning people are going to click a link to hear what that woman from 'Scandal' said at that award show, and so, I think some stuff needs to be said," Washington told the audience, which included Channing Tatum and Ellen DeGeneres, to applause.

"Women, poor people, people of color, people with disabilities, gay men, lesbians, bisexuals, trans people, intersex people — we have been pitted against each other and made to feel there are limited seats at the table for those of us who fall into the category of 'other.' 'Scandal' actress Kerry Washington rocks a bob and opens up about her decision to discuss Michael Brown's tragic shooting at the 2014 Emmy Awards in the April 2015 issue of Ebony magazine, which hit newsstands on March 20th.

"I was really broken that morning," she explains. "Watching [Brown's] funeral, I was just broken. And I take all of who I am into a room. That's where my mind was that day. I'm not going to let anyone segment me or make me exclude parts of who I am because they may be threatening."

Still, Washington admits that although she wants to be a voice, a future in politics is not something she desires. "Absolutely not," she says. "I wouldn't be able to handle what it takes to get approval in politics. I have a hard enough time seeking approval in Hollywood." Lovely woman!

As 'Scandal' continues to engage viewers on a weekly basis (See: the fantastic episode entitled 'The Lawn Chair'), leading lady Kerry Washington strikes a pretty pose as she fronts the April 2015 issue of Marie Claire, which will hit newsstands on March 24th.

In the issue, the 38-year-old actress, who recently signed on to play Anita Hill in a HBO movie, dishes on why she is so private about her personality, her respect for Shonda Rhimes' vision and of course, fashion. Read some excerpts from her interview with the publication beneath:

On Privacy: "Earlier in my career, I was much more super-sharey. There were moments when I wanted to process things that were happening to me more privately, and I didn’t have the space to do it, because once you let people in, they’re in and you don’t get to say, ‘Oh, I want this for myself.'"

On Fashion: "I just put myself in a boot camp of figuring it out—and realized that I really loved it. I guess because I came to it later in life, I realized, ‘Oh, going to a fashion show is like going to the opening of Degas at the Met or going to see Swan Lake.'"

On Shonda Rhimes: "I’m very respectful of Shonda’s vision of who Olivia [Pope] is, but she has said that she is informed by the choices I make. If we were waltzing, she’s definitely leading. And she picked the song, and she probably dressed us, but it is a waltz."

It was a good night for ABC!!! The network finally premiered the Viola Davis-starrer 'How To Get Away With Murder' and it made a killer debut by pulling in 14 million viewers and a 3.8 adults 18-49 rating, which is by far the best launch of the fall's new shows.

'Grey's Anatomy' and 'Scandal', the other two series from Shonda Rhimes, were also strong in their returns as Olivia Pope and company opened to a series high 3.8 adults 18-49 rating and nearly 12 million viewers, while the latter earned a a 3.0 adults 18-49 rating and 9.8 million viewers in its new time slot. To put it simply, Rhimes pulled off a trifecta of ratings hits.

Elsewhere, 'Thursday Night Football' grabbed 4.5 adults 18-49 rating with 12.5 million viewers for CBS, 'Bones' (1.6, 6.2M) returned even with last year's season finale on FOX, 'The Biggest Loser' (1.3, 4.5M) and the premiere of 'Parenthood' (1.4, 4.3M) continued to struggle on NBC, and The CW was full of reruns. Just like her Olivia Pope character, Kerry Washington knows how to keep a secret. After secretly tying the knot last yea in Idaho, it has been revealed that the 'Scandal' actress welcomed a baby girl nearly two weeks ago.

Born on April 1st at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, Isabelle Amarachi Asomugha is the first child for the 37-year-old beauty and her hubby, Nnamdi Asomugha, who retired from the NFL after playing eleven seasons. Congrats!!!

Black Hollywood came out in full effect for the 2014 NAACP Image Awards on Saturday, February 22nd, where Kevin Hart was named Entertainer of the Year and '12 Years A Slave' was named Outstanding Motion Picture.

Neil Patrick Harris and Aaron Paul joined forces to announce the nominations for the 65th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles, California on Thursday, July 18th, and for the second consecutive year 'American Horror Story: Asylum' leads the field of nominees with an astonishing 17 nominations.

'Scandal' actress Kerry Washington, who secretly married NFL corner-back Nnamdi Asomugha last month, flaunts her fabulous figure in a white Lanvin bodysuit, while cooling off in a pool, for the August 2013 issue of Vanity Fair.

Not only is it the another major magazine cover for the actress, who appeared on the June issue of ELLE magazine, but it is the first time in six years that a black woman has appeared on the magazine's cover and the first time since Beyonce in 2005, that a black woman has appeared on the issue alone.
