Solange Performs 'I Decided (Part 2)'; Named Ambassador For Armani

7/31/2008 0
Solange Knowles paid GMTV a visit this morning over in the UK, to perform her song, check it out:

Great Performance. Like I said before, the thing I'm noticing with Solange's music is people either love it or hate it, there really isn't any middle ground with her, but I love it. Vocally the runs were fantastic and the high note at the end was just the cherry on the top.

In other Solange news, she was recently named named as an ambassador for Amarni's jean line, check it out below:

"Armani Jeans expresses my vision of a young, independent, casual lifestyle with a strong and cool, fashion sensibility. Solange epitomises this style perfectly and brings to it that swing so evident in her new single, I Decided," Giorgio Armani commented on his newest muse.

The profile-boosting partnership couldn't come at a better time for Solange, whose second album, SoL-AngeL and the Hadley Street Dreams (from which I Decided is taken), is released on August 26 prior to her embarking on a worldwide tour this autumn. (Vogue)

Great for her, getting that theme pretty much screams superstardom, but the 11 Grammy's had pretty much already done that anyway.

Dark Knight Makes Record-Breaking $300M in 10 Days

7/28/2008 0
No argument: The Dark Knight is Hollywood's brightest light.

The Batman adventure, starring Christian Bale and Heath Ledger, shattered another box-office benchmark this weekend – reaching beyond the $300 million mark in a mere 10 days.

The movie grossed $75.6 million in its second weekend in theaters, bringing its North American box-office total to $314,245,000, Warner Bros. head of distribution Dan Fellman tells the Associated Press.

The number breaks the record established by 2006's Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, which hit $300 million after 16 days.

Fellman says Dark Knight could conceivably reach the $400-million mark in about 18 days – placing it ahead of Shrek 2's 43-day record in 2004.

Hold on to your life preservers – The Dark Knight might also surpass 1997's Titanic as the highest-grossing film in U.S. history, according to Paul Dergarabedian, president of Media By Numbers. That sinking-ship saga, starring Leonardo Di Caprio, made $600,788,188 domestically.

Rounding out this weekend's top five at the box office were Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly in Step Brothers, with an estimated $30 million; Meryl Streep in Mamma Mia!, $17.9 million; David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson in The X-Files: I Want to Believe, $10.2 million; and Brendan Fraser in Journey to the Center of the Earth, $9.4 million.

Shanna Moakler vs. Kim Kardashian

7/26/2008 0

Another day, another starlet enduring the wrath of Shanna Moakler.

It seems the former Miss USA, who made headlines a while back when she allegedly punched Paris Hilton in the face during a run-in at a Hollywood hot spot, is now unleashing her fury on Kim Kardashian.

Kim called in to Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-FM morning show today to confirm reports that there was a little catfight between her and the onetime beauty queen at a Malibu party hosted by Carmen Electra this weekend.

"There was a little altercation. Carmen and I were just kind of hanging out. Shanna came over and kind of just said a few things and threw a drink," says Kim. "I was just a little bit caught off guard. It kind of hit my leg.

"While the exact reason behind the purported fluid toss remains unclear, Kim thinks Shanna believes that she and Shanna's ex, Travis Barker, had become more than friends when Kim modeled for Travis' Famous Stars and Straps clothing line a year and a half ago. But Kim insists there was no funny business going on.

"I think she's trying to make it into something it's not."

Kim does admit, however, that she may have added fuel to the fire when the paparazzi caught her out and about recently wearing a Famous Stars and Straps T-shirt, which she thinks Shanna may have viewed as a slap in the face.

"I feel bad about it, and I feel like I infuriated Shanna for that. I do definitely want to apologize." While we certainly hope Shanna accepts Kim's words of remorse, something tells us this beef is far from over.

Halle Berry Takes A Stand

7/25/2008 0
Halle Berry says a paparazzi photographer went too far to get a shot of the actress holding her infant daughter, trespassing onto her private property and snapping them hanging out in the backyard.

The Oscar-winning actress was upset when pictures of her holding four-month-old Nahla Ariela Aubry showed up on the Internet and in two celebrity magazines. In a statement, Berry disputes the notion that the photos were taken when she was "out and about in Los Angeles."

Evan Spiegel, an attorney representing Berry, said a criminal complaint has been filed and an investigation is under way. He said there are witnesses who saw the photographers in the middle of a "very blatant and invasive trespass."

A person who answered the phone Friday at Fame Pictures, the agency that distributed the photos, said he had no immediate comment.

Besides pursuing criminal charges against the photographer, Berry is seeking to get the photos removed from the Web. In her statement to The Associated Press, Berry said she will never sell pictures of her children.

"I have long since come to terms with the fact that choosing a career as an actress has made me a public figure, but my baby has made no such choice, and unless and until she does, I will do everything I can ... to keep her out of the public eye," the statement read.

The photos, some of which have blurred leaves in the foreground, show Berry holding her daughter, standing near a table in what appears to be a private backyard. Berry's mother is also in some of the pictures.

Berry said she wants anyone who used the photos to know they were illegally obtained. Representatives for In Touch and Life & Style magazines, which ran the photos, had no immediate comment Friday.

Berry gave birth to Nahla, her first child, in March. Nahla's father, model Gabriel Aubry, was not seen in the photos.

The detailed introspective piano-driven track goes deep from taking a shot at Eminem, "All the pictures of me and Em, I burned them", to reaching out to Kanye, addressing his mother’s passing, “Since you helped me sell my dream, we can share my mama now.” This is a really solid record for The Game considering his last release with Keyshia Cole was rather lackluster IMO, but I'm really feeling this one.

Will Smith, Cameron Diaz Named Top Hollywood Moneymakers

7/23/2008 0
It's been a very good year for Will Smith. Not only is his Hancock a runaway box-office hit, but he also banked an impressive $80 million – making him Hollywood's top money earner last year, according to a new ranking from Forbes.

Cameron Diaz is no victim of the current economic pinch, either. Making $50 million last year, the Shrek and What Happens in Vegas star was Tinsel Town's top-earning female, reports the business publication.

Among others in the financial stratosphere: No. 2-ranked Johnny Depp, with a $72 million paycheck, and, tied for third place, Eddie Murphy and Mike Myers, with $55 million each – even though Myers's recent The Love Guru tanked.

Leonardo DiCaprio, with $55 million, rounded out the top five.

And while Atonement leading lady Keira Knightley earned $32 million, and Jennifer Aniston pulled in $27 million, Forbes notes that, once the gold dust settles, men make twice as much as women in Hollywood.

In terms of media personalities, Oprah Winfrey still owns the bank. Her earnings last year were a staggering $275 million.

As for other TV stars, Charlie Sheen was the top-earning male ($20 million), while Grey's Anatomy star Katherine Heigl – who's also been stepping into big-screen roles – deposited $13 million, making her the top-ranking female.

'The Dark Knight' Rewrites Box-Office Record Books

7/22/2008 1
Batman sequel "The Dark Knight" rewrote the box-office record books last weekend as audiences flocked to see late actor Heath Ledger in his last completed film role, figures have shown.

The film raked in 158.4 million dollars, crushing the previous North American box-office opening record of 151.1 million held by "Spider-Man 3", industry tracker Exhibitor Relations said.

Prior to "The Dark Knight," "Spider-Man 3" had led the all-time opening weekend figures from 2006's "Pirates of the Caribbean 2" (135.6 million) and 2007's "Shrek the Third" (121.6 million).

The performance of "The Dark Knight" helped the overall box-office to a record three-day take of 260 million dollars.

Buzz has been building for weeks about director Christopher Nolan's follow-up to 2005's "Batman Begins," with several reviewers hailing Ledger's performance as worthy of a posthumous Oscar nod.

Ledger, who died of an accidental drug overdose in New York in January, plays the cackling villain the Joker in "The Dark Knight."

Exhibitor Relations analyst Jeff Bock said he believed the box-office success of "The Dark Knight" was largely due to the intense interest surrounding Ledger's mesmerizing performance.
"I think you have to credit this to a large extent to Heath Ledger," Bock told AFP. "Since he died there has been a tremendous amount of anticipation about Heath's performance.

Analysts said "The Dark Knight" would likely exceed the total box office take of "Batman Begins" -- 205.3 million dollars -- by the end of this week.

With Batman dominant, the remainder of the box-office spoils were carved up by Abba musical "Mamma Mia!", which opened with 27.7 million to take second place, and Will Smith's flawed superhero "Hancock" (14 million) in third.

In fourth place was adventure "Journey to the Center of the Earth" with 12.3 million while last week's top dog "Hellboy II: The Golden Army" was fifth with 10.1 million.

Pixar animation's "Wall-E" was sixth with 10 million while another animated feature "Space Chimps" was next with 7.1 million.

The Angelina Jolie action movie "Wanted" was eighth with five million dollars, followed by the spoof spy comedy "Get Smart" (4.1 million) and "Kung Fu Panda" (1.9 million).

The track is pretty underwhelming when compared to the material on his last album, 'GO!', but its still worth a listen.

Past Attack: TLC - Crazy Sexy Cool Medley Live at the 1995 VMAs

7/20/2008 0
This week’s Past Attack clip comes courtesy of the best female group ever TLC. When it comes to being creative, different, and thinking outside the box, no female group displayed that more than the ladies of TLC. Musically and visually they ruled the 90s and early 00s with every other female group taking a back seat, Destiny's Child included, there the best that ever done and will hold a place in history forever. Below you will see one of their classic performances, which took place at the 1995 Video Music Awards, also a personal fave of mine:

New Music: Ciara featuring Ludacris - 'High Price' (Full)

7/19/2008 0
A good quality version of “High Price,” the rumored first single off Ciara’s third album Fantasy Ride, in stores this November, has surfaced. The track was produced by Tricky Stewart and features Ludacris. The conceptual album will be divided into three discs— Groove City, Crunktown, and Kingdom of Dance. Having now heard it in its entirely, I can't say it changes my mind any, I still think its a mess much credited to Ciara's annoying singing voice. Ludacris is the best thing about the track IMO, but I can see the track being a grower with the public.

"A Raisin in the Sun" Nabs 3 Emmy Nods

Nominations for the 60th Primetime Emmy® Awards (covering the period of June 1, 2007 through May 31, 2008) were announced today by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences from the Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre, North Hollywood, California.

"A Raisin in the Sun" earned 3 nods -- Outstanding Made for Television Movie, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie (Phylicia Rashad) and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie (Audra McDonald). Also nominated was Alfre Woodard for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie, "Pictures Of Hollis Woods;" Vanessa Williams, Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, "Ugly Betty;" Chandra Wilson, Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, "Grey's Anatomy;" Glynn Turman, Guest Actor in a Drama Series, "In Treatment;" and Diahann Carroll, Guest Actress in a Drama Series, "Grey's Anatomy."

HBO's "John Adams" led with 23 nominations. NBC's "30 Rock" was the top nominee among sitcoms with 17 nods while "Mad Men" was the leading drama series contender with 16 nominations. AMC's "Mad Men" and FX's "Damages" made Emmy nominations history Thursday as the first basic cable programs to gain best-series nods.

Snubbed once again, "The Wire," HBO's critically acclaimed series that just ended its 5 year run lost its final shot at a best-drama nod but was nominated for its writing.

The 60th Primetime Emmy® Awards will be held on Sept. 21 and televised live on ABC from the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live.
A complete list of nominations can be found at www.emmys.tv.

Despite his critically acclaimed performance, Sean 'Diddy' Combs failed to nab a nominations, as did Britney for her performance on the CBS hit 'How I Met Your Mother', also two of my other faves Eva Longoria and Marcia Cross of 'Desperate Housewives' were shut out.

Nelly, Ashanti & Akon - 'Body on Me' Video

7/18/2008 1

The video for Nelly's latest single 'Body on Me' featuring Ashanti and Akon premiered a matter of minutes ago on the superstar's official website. I really like this one, especially that magnetic chemistry that he and Ashanti share, which is so rare in celebrity couples. Early indications on the charts also show this may be the break that Nelly so rightfully needs after his previous singles failed to ignite with the public causing several pushbacks to his long awaited album.

I love both, make sure you check out the shoes in the performance.

Ashanti co-hosted BET’s 106 & Park with Terrence J Thursday and today.

The blue and yellow outfit is a complete mess, but I like the black number especially those shoes.
