Taylor Swift Switches Up Style For 'Vogue'

4/24/2016 0

Pop superstar Taylor Swift debuts a new look on the May issue of Vogue magazine, where she dishes on her relationship with Calvin Harris, when fans can expect a follow-up to '1989' and her on-agai/off-again friendship with Kanye West. Read excerpts from her interview beneath:

On Calvin Harris:
"I’m just taking things as they come. I’m in a magical relationship right now. And of course I want it to be ours, and low-key - this is the one thing that’s been mine about my personal life."

On Her Next Album:
"I have no idea. This is the first time in 10 years that I haven’t known. I just decided that after the past year, with all of the unbelievable things that happened… I decided I was going to live my life a little bit without the pressure on myself to create something. I’m always going to be writing songs. The thing is, with me, I could very well come up with three things in the next two weeks and then jump back into the studio, and all of a sudden the next record is started. That’s an option, too."

On Kanye West:
"I think the world is bored with the saga. I don't want to add anything to it, because then there's just more... I guess what I wanted to call attention to in my speech at the Grammys was how it's going to be difficult if you're a woman who wants to achieve something in her life -- no matter what."

Rest In Peace: Prince Dies At 57

4/24/2016 0

On Thursday (April 21st), the world lost a music legend when Prince unexpectedly passed away at the age of 57 after being found unresponsive in an elevator.

The 7x-Grammy winner was found around 9:45 a.m. on Thursday after sheriff's deputies received a call for medical help from his Paisley Park Studios home outside Minneapolis. He was pronounced dead less than 25 minutes later, authorities in Minnesota say. An autopsy has been completed, but a cause of death has not been determined. Read more details beneath:

Prince, An Artist Who Defied Genre, Is Dead At 57

Prince, the songwriter, singer, producer, one-man studio band and consummate showman, died on Thursday at his home, Paisley Park, in Chanhassen, Minn. He was 57.

His publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure, confirmed his death but did not report a cause. In a statement, the Carver County sheriff, Jim Olson, said that deputies responded to an emergency call at 9:43 a.m. “When deputies and medical personnel arrived,” he said, “they found an unresponsive adult male in the elevator. Emergency medical workers attempted to provide lifesaving CPR, but were unable to revive the victim. He was pronounced deceased at 10:07 a.m.”

The sheriff’s office said it would continue to investigate his death. Last week, responding to news reports that Prince’s plane had made an emergency landing because of a health scare, Ms. Noel-Schure said Prince was “fighting the flu.”

Prince was a man bursting with music — a wildly prolific songwriter, a virtuoso on guitars, keyboards and drums and a master architect of funk, rock, R&B and pop, even as his music defied genres. In a career that lasted from the late 1970s until his solo “Piano & a Microphone” tour this year, he was acclaimed as a sex symbol, a musical prodigy and an artist who shaped his career his way, often battling with accepted music-business practices.

“When I first started out in the music industry, I was most concerned with freedom. Freedom to produce, freedom to play all the instruments on my records, freedom to say anything I wanted to,” he said when he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. In a tribute to George Harrison that night, Prince went on to play a guitar solo in “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” that left the room floored.

A seven-time Grammy winner, Prince had Top 10 hits like “Little Red Corvette,” “When Doves Cry,” “Let’s Go Crazy,” “Kiss” and “The Most Beautiful Girl in the World”; albums like “Dirty Mind,” “1999” and “Sign O’ the Times” were full-length statements. His songs also became hits for others, among them “Nothing Compares 2 U” for Sinead O’Connor, “Manic Monday” for the Bangles and “I Feel for You” for Chaka Khan. With the 1984 film and album “Purple Rain,” he told a fictionalized version of his own story: biracial, gifted, spectacularly ambitious. Its music won him an Academy Award, and the album sold more than 13 million copies in the United States alone.

In a statement, President Obama said, “Few artists have influenced the sound and trajectory of popular music more distinctly, or touched quite so many people with their talent.” He added, “He was a virtuoso instrumentalist, a brilliant bandleader, and an electrifying performer. ‘A strong spirit transcends rules,’ Prince once said — and nobody’s spirit was stronger, bolder, or more creative.”

Jennifer Lopez Slays 'W' Cover

4/21/2016 0

Talented superstar Jennifer Lopez is featured on the May issue of W magazine, and in the issue, the 'Shades of Blue' star gets candid about the demise of her marriage to Marc Anthony and why she is still open to walking down the aisle a fourth time.

On Her Work Ethic:
"I do have trouble saying no. It's hard for me not to imagine doing everything I am asked to do. Even if I hear a song that someone else has done or watch a film that someone else is in, I think, 'Oh, I would do it like this.' Or, 'I wish I could do it like that.'Luckily, I love to work.'"

On Her Marriage to Marc Anthony:
"When my marriage ended, it was not easy to find forgiveness. It wasn't the dream that I had hoped for, and it would have been easier to fan the flames of resentment, disappointment, and anger. But Marc is the father of my children, and that's never going away. So, I have to work to make things right. And that is, by far, the hardest work I do." She continues, "I hung in there for seven years. I knew very quickly that it wasn't the right thing."

On Seeing Marriage In Her Future:
"I still think about getting married and having that long life with someone. I love the movie The Notebook. A dream of mine is to grow old with someone."

Channing Tatum Joins 'Kingsman 2'

4/14/2016 0

'Kingsman: The Golden Circle', the sequel to the 2015 hit 'Kingsman: The Secret Service', just keeps getting better!!! Channing Tatum has announced that he will be joining the cast, which already includes Taron Egerton, Mark Strong, and Sophie Cookson; in addition, despite their characters’ deaths in the first film, Colin Firth and Edward Holcroft are also returning.

Academy Award winners Halle Berry and Julianne Moore are also in talks to join with Matthew Vaughn returning to direct, which is scheduled for a June 16, 2017 release. Tatum’s role is not known, but the story reportedly sees Eggsy (Egerton ) and Merlin (Strong) joining forces with their American counterpart, "Statesman", after the Kingsman organization is wiped out by the film's villain. The graphic included in Tatum’s tweet, similar to the poster art alluding to Firth’s return, would seem to suggest him for the role of "Statesman".

Beyoncé Dishes On 'Formation' Backlash, Power & Being A Feminist In 'Elle'

4/07/2016 0

Beyoncé, who is expected to release her new album soon, models her new Ivy Park activewear line for the May 2016 issue of Elle magazine, where she dishes on controversy surrounding "Formation", what she feels true power is and being a feminist. Read excerpts beneath:

On "Formation" Backlash:
"I’m an artist and I think the most powerful art is usually misunderstood, but anyone who perceives my message as anti-police is completely mistaken. I have so much admiration and respect for officers and the families of officers who sacrifice themselves to keep us safe. But let’s be clear: I am against police brutality and injustice. Those are two separate things. If celebrating my roots and culture during Black History Month made anyone uncomfortable, those feelings were there long before a video and long before me. I’m proud of what we created and I’m proud to be a part of a conversation that is pushing things forward in a positive way."

On The True Meaning Of Power:
"It's exciting, but having the power to make every final decision and being accountable for them is definitely a burden and a blessing. To me, power is making things happen without asking for permission. It's affecting the way people perceive themselves and the world around them. It's making people stand up with pride."

On Criticism That Being Sexual Keeps You From Being A Feminist:
"We all know that's not true. Choosing to be a feminist has nothing to do with your femininity—or, for that matter, your masculinity. We're not all just one thing. Everyone who believes in equal rights for men and women doesn't speak the same, or dress the same, or think the same. If a man can do it, a woman should be able to. It's that simple. If your son can do it, your daughter should be able to. Some of the things that we teach our daughters—allowing them to express their emotions, their pain and vulnerability—we need to allow and support our men and boys to do as well."
