It was ladies night at the 2016 VH1 Hip Hop Honors event on Monday, July 11th. The show returned to the screen after a six-year hiatus and honored four female hip-hop trailblazers including Queen Latifah, Missy Elliott, Lil' Kim and Salt-N-Pepa with tributes.

Some of the stars featured in the tributes included Teyana Taylor, KeKe Palmer, Ashanti, Nelly Furtado, Fantasia, Monica, Tweet, French Montana and more, while honorees Queen Latifah and Lil' Kim also graced the stage with their presence for some energetic performances.

Hip-hop icon Missy Elliott talks about her musical comeback in the November 28th issue of Billboard magazine, where she also dishes on her time away, examining the current state of the music industry and her first album in over a decade.

Aside from gracing the cover, the 44-year-old star is set to receive the inaugural Innovator Award at the 10th Annual Billboard Women In Music ceremony in New York City on December 11th.

R&B veteran Monica will release her new album 'Code Red' on December 18th and ahead of its release, she has revealed the cover artwork, track listing and the Polow Da Don-produced title track, which features Missy Elliott and her two-year-old daughter Laiyah. Details beneath:

Hip-hop innovator Missy Elliott makes a sizzling comeback in the dance-heavy music video for "WTF (Where They From)", the Pharrell Williams-assisted lead single from her first studio album in over a decade. Watch the video, which she co-directed with Dave Meyers, beneath:

Following in the footsteps of spectacular shows from Bruno Mars, Beyoncé and Madonna, pop superstar Katy Perry stepped in as headliner of the Super Bowl XLIX Halftime Show at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona on Sunday, February 1st.

The 30-year-old entered the stadium on a giant mechanical lion to "Roar", before transitioning into "Dark Horse", rocking out with Lenny Kravitz to "I Kissed A Girl" and turning the set into a beach environment for "Teenage Dream" and "California Girls". Next, Missy Elliott, in a not so surprise appearance, performed three of her hits ("Get Ur Freak On", "Work It" and "Lose Control") and Perry closed the show with "Firework" as the sky filled up with fireworks.

The production and set was eye catching to say the least, but the execution from Perry, who lipped the entire show and can't dance to save her life, missed the marked and made the entire spectacle underwhelming, especially in comparison to the last three halftime shows. It was all bark (gimmicks) and no bite (substance), and the most memorable segment came from Elliott, who towered over Perry in terms of stage presence. Watch the halftime performance beneath:

Not only was Chris Brown a big winner at the 2014 Soul Train Awards, taking two trophies for Best Collaboration and Best Hip-Hop Song of the Year ("Loyal"), but the 25-year-old also kicked off the show with a bang by performing a medley of his hits.

Other highlight performances from the telecast included Tinashe, who performed "Pretend" and "2 On", a Jodeci reunion and Lil'Kim, Missy Elliott and Da Brat closing out the show with a performance of their platinum collaboration "Not Tonight (Remix)". Watch below:

Relighting the fire behind her 'Side Effects of You' campaign, Fantasia appeared on the latest episode of '106 & Park', to perform her latest single release, "Without Me", with some assistance from her frequent collaborator Missy Elliott.

The single, which also features Kelly Rowland, is the second cut lifted from her fourth studio album, which started at No.2 on the Billboard 200 and has sold just under 250,000 copies since its release in April. Watch her perform the urban hit with Elliott beneath:

Last night (May 18th),  marked an unforgettable moment for the female hip-hop movement as Lil' Kim brought out Eve, Missy Elliott and Pepa - from veteran hip-hop trio Salt -N- Pepa, at her 'Return of the Queen' tour in New York City.

Held at the Paradise Theater in front of a sold-out crowd, Kimmy Blanco dazzled the crowd with several of her hits, before having the ladies join her. Watch below:

Chart-topping princess Katy Perry, who is one No.1 single shy of tying Michael Jackson's long-standing record, recruits Missy Elliott to give her fifth single "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)" it needs to ascend from its current No.2 position.

While we're rooting for Perry to tie the record, since she has come this close. If we're being completely honest, this record (much like the original) is simply too generic and unpretentious to be in contention for the top slot, let alone holding it.

Still, the top spot is inevitable and it is extremely nice to hear from Elliott again.
